MBA from Manipal University (2016)

Manipal University has one of the best Biomedical Engineering departments in India. The total tuition fee for this course is around 13.10 lakhs, and the total number of seats is 60.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Students need to sit for the MET examination as seats will be offered on the basis of rank scored in it
  • Students need a total aggregate of 50% in Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry or Biotechnology and one other vocational subject.

The cut-off rank for this branch is 20507 in round 1, and after that, students are admitted if seats are available.

Academics

  • A strict balance is maintained between the engineering and medical aspects of this course. Both aspects receive equal emphasis.
  • Manipal is associated with Kasturba Medical College, where the medical facets like Anatomy, Physiology, Cardiology, Radiology, Radiotherapy, ENT, Anaesthesiology, Orthopaedics, Ophthalmology, and Neurology are covered.

The labs have been updated over the last five years with all the latest technology at students' fingertips. There is a separate lab for research purposes. There are practical sessions, but the industry experience of this branch is less compared to other branches.

Faculty

  • All teachers have a master's degree, and most even have a Ph.D. Powerpoint presentations are commonly used.
  • The student to faculty ratio is approximately 30:1 as this will help the teachers can focus on each student individually as well as as a group.

Placements

  • First-year students are advised to sign up for internships in organizations such as IAESTE or AEISEC.
  • Some of the core companies that recruit are GE, Philips, and BPL Medical Technologies. Others include Johnson & Johnson, IBM, Wipro, TCS, Cerner, and MU Sigma.
  • Students should maintain a CGPA of 7 or above to get placed.
  • The average salary is around 6-7 LPA.

Manipal offers a lot of extracurricular activities, and there are loads of clubs to choose from. Students of this branch get the full experience of college life filled with both fun and academics. The BTech in BME course is structured in a way that students have full knowledge of BME by the end of their program. Moreover, students graduating from this college have no problem getting a seat in foreign universities.
