Is the infrastucture of IIT-BHU the worst? Does BHU not deserve to call itself IIT in terms of infrastructure?

I don’t deem it right to evaluate an IIT solely on the basis of its infrastructure when many new IITs are still operating from a temporary campus. IIT BHU works under the umbrella of BHU and shares its campus with it. Many administrative sanctions require approval from BHU not making it autonomous like other IITs.

As for the infrastructure, it might be getting old but it’s not lacking in any way. All the funds the institute received after conversion from IT to IIT were invested in improving the infrastructure of the institute.

  • The hostels are designed with beautiful architecture and are huge. Every hostel has its own lush green lawn. The rooms are well-ventilated and have all basic amenities like a LAN port, bed, and fan.
  • The institute also built 3 new boys' hostels that have bigger rooms, and better facilities but lack nature's touch as a whole.
  • The institute promotes eco-friendliness and all the hostels and department buildings are equipped with solar panels.
  • The sports facilities are limited to those who are genuinely interested in it as most sports amenities are shared with BHU students, limiting the opportunities and resources available.
  • Every IIT BHU hostel has a badminton court and a volleyball court.
  • There are big common rooms decked with an LCD, table tennis, and other indoor game facilities.
  • IIT BHU has numerous student-run clubs that function throughout the week and organize interesting events.

So, it’s wrong to say IIT BHU is not worth being called an IIT just because its infrastructure is old. Rather, think about the heritage and experience it holds.
