Yes, there are summer internship programs available for Mechanical Engineering at IIT BHU. Usually, the summer internship portal of IIT BHU opens in the 3rd Week of March till the 1st of April. Students can apply through this portal: https://internship.iitbhu.ac.in/. Since this year, due to Global Corona Virus Outbreak, the institution has decided not to offer Summer Internships due to Safety concerns.
Candidates have to fill their interests and choose professors under which they want to work and propose which topics will they be working upon. In the end, upload their CV. If their application gets selected, they are called on the Campus to work with the Professor. Generally, the Internship duration is for 2 Months and candidates are allowed to live inside IIT BHU Campus.

Go to Faculties Tab. You will find a list of 40 Professors working in various disciplines like Solid Mechanics, Tribology, Automation, IC Engine, Industrial Engineering, Thermal, Heat Transfer, etc.
Read their complete Profile and mail the Professor whose work seems relevant and interesting to you.
Write a brief about you, your college, branch, your CGPA, your areas of interest and express your gratitude that you want to work with him.
Make a short proposal on which you will be going to work. If you want to do any Project write a brief about it.
If possible, try to make PPT since Professors love to read Presentations. If you have any past experiences or you have taken any course include that also. Also, don’t forget to attach your CV with the Mail.
The mail ids of professors are given on their profile. Finally, if your profile gets selected and the concerned professor is ready, you’ll surely get a positive reply.
