IIM C alumni with a summer internship at Accenture Management Consulting

Getting into a consulting firm has less to do with your academic performance and more to do with your overall personality. Of course, being an IIT graduate, regardless of your grade, boosts your resume. If you have multiple consulting shortlists, your chances of getting an interview with a consultancy firm increase dramatically, because each firm is trying to get one up on the other, and one way to do that is to hire someone who others also want on board. It is critical to establish contacts with seniors who have interned at consulting firms and, if possible, with alumni who work there. Make your intentions clear and seek advice on how to improve your resume in order to attract attention.

A well-rounded resume is highly valued by consulting firms. So make sure you include enough points in the "Positions of Responsibility" and "Extra Curricular" sections. Getting into the Drams Cell at IIM Calcutta increases your chances of being shortlisted by a consulting firm significantly. Attempt to become an active member of the top clubs on campus, participate in business competitions, volunteer for social activities, and make up for your undergrad grades in the first term.
