AIIMS Raipur Admission for the MBBS program is based on merit in NEET UG followed by counselling. On selection, candidates must appear for a general medical fitness test conducted by the institute. The medical fitness test is conducted for all medical aspirants to ensure that they do not have any underlying medical conditions that might be an issue during training or affect patients in any way.

In case, students have any serious medical conditions such as progressive immunodeficiency or Autoimmune Disorders that might affect both medical candidates and patients, AIIMS will create a medical board consisting of senior faculties who are well-experienced from various departments. The case will be discussed from all perspectives and a fair decision will be made. Candidates are advised not to be anxious or lose hope. The medical board will decide on careful evaluation.

During the admissions for AIIMS, a general medical fitness test is conducted to ensure that you do not have any serious underlying condition that can affect your training or the patients’ safety/treatment. Immunodeficiency and progressive vision decrease are examples of such serious ailments.

In case of any such conditions, a medical board consisting of senior faculties from various departments will be created for you. An external expert on that subject may also be called upon to join the board, if needed.

The board will then decide upon your admission. The criteria is much more strict for PG candidates. A friend of mine had colour blindness, so a medical board was formed to decide whether to allow him admission into AIIMS Bhubaneswar for surgery (specialization) or not. He was fortunately allowed after evaluation.

Regular medical tests are performed during admissions, ranging from routine blood and screening tests to organ-specific tests such as eye, ear, and mental illness.

In the event of any red flags such as severe mental illness, immunodeficiency, progressive vision loss, and other issues that could jeopardize your training or patients' safety/treatment, a medical board will be formed for you, comprised of senior faculty from various departments, and an external expert on that subject may be called upon if necessary.

The board will decide whether or not you can enroll in the course. The calls for MBBS are not as restrictive as those for PG. For example, if you are discovered to have motor ticks or fine tremors, the board may not permit you to pursue surgical branches.
