It depends on you and what your career goal is. If jobs are what you aspire to, then St. Xavier’s will be a good choice. In case you are looking for legacy, reputation, and departmental history, and you want to boast of some old-school ultra-elitism across Kolkata, Presidency is the place to be.

Presidency University is going under lots of variations when it comes to curriculum and the teaching methodology. The addition of Presidency Kolkata Economics in your CV in India is an unparalleled one.

As the Presidency University is going under transition for good. But, Xavier’s economics department still has an edge over the Presidency's department in terms of faculty and syllabus.

Both the colleges are best in their aspects. NIRF ranking of Presidency University is 151. While the NIRF ranking of St. Xavier college is 7.

Here are a few more facts about the Economics department at both colleges.

Presidency University:

It is one of the most reputed colleges in the country with good faculty and excellent career opportunities. Almost all faculty members hold the highest degree in their respective fields. So, students can access the utmost knowledge.

The Economics Department offers BSc and MSc Economics programs. It also offers PhD programs.

Admissions:

  • The college accepts admission based on their performance in the entrance exam. It accepts the students purely based on excellence in academics.
  • The total fee for the BSc is INR 12,950 and for MSc is 10,000.
  • For BSc, admission students are required to have 10+2 with 70% aggregate and for MSc, graduation with 60% is the requirement.
  • The college has a total of 40 seats for BSc and 26 seats for MSc.

Placements:
