Due to the pandemic, NLSIU Bangalore started taking classes online. Before the Covid-19 break-out, a typical day at NLSIU Bangalore used to look something like the following.

  • There used to be regular classes between 8:50 am to 1:30 pm.
  • On campus, you will find students doing their own thing. Some people hang out and read in the library. Others go to the gym or take part in some sports activities. You will also find students engaged in moots, legal aid, or a research assistantship. There are also frequent talks, conferences, credit courses that take place on the campus.
  • During the project submission time, you will find students sitting in the library and working on their research papers for 10-12 hours at a stretch.

In your fourth or fifth year, you can go for exchange programs to universities in the US, Europe, or Singapore. A selected few of these programs are funded by external scholarships. While most of these are self-financed. If you have the required CGPA, profile, and work experience, you can also apply for Ivy-league law schools. ‘NLSIU’ is a well-recognized name in these universities. Students also go abroad for moots, MUNs, debates during their course.

According to my cousin who graduated from NLSIU, Banglore. A day in NLSIU is quite interesting.

  • The classes begin at 8:50 am and end around 1:30 to 2:00 pm. After that, there is enough time to explore the campus.
  • The campus offers gym facilities, which you can opt for also.
  • You can be a part of a committee, organizing moots, debates, MUNs, Client counseling competitions, etc.
  • You can become a research assistant at the Centre for child and law (CEERA).
  • Apart from this, you can attend several webinars, conferences, and workshops conducted by NLSIU.
  • During exams, students generally spend 10-12 hours in a row working on research papers, assignments, and studying.
  • Abroad opportunities in NLSIU are huge. In the student exchange program, they have an opportunity to study law in a foreign country, while receiving credits towards their degree.
  • In the 4th and 5th year, students can go for exchange programs to other universities in different countries.
  • NLSIU has partnerships with universities such as Bucerius Law School, Hamberg, Germany, Dalhousie University, Canada, EBS Law School, Germany, etc.

Apart from this, If you are targeting Ivy league universities then NLSIU is the right choice for it. You can also get a chance to go abroad by participating in moots, debates, MUN's and conferences during your undergraduate program.
