B.Tech from Haldia Institute of Technology (2019)

Haldia Institute of Technology is a decent institute. If you are interested in civil engineering then you should rather continue with your preparation for the JEE. I say this based on the conversation I had with my friends from HIT.

  • The placement scenario for core branches at HIT is not good.
  • Companies that provide 10k - 20k salaries usually visit the campus for recruitment.
  • The least you would get is an opportunity to sit in an IT sector company which would be a waste of your talent, knowledge, skills after studying civil engineering for 4 years.
  • If you want to prepare for GATE or ESE exams, you would have to go to Kolkata for coaching. Online lectures are always an option but that requires your focus as well.

Therefore, it is advisable to opt for other colleges in Kolkata for any core branch rather than the Haldia Institute of Technology. If there is a possibility or you believe that you could get into NITs or IITs then go for a year drop to try out your best luck. Otherwise, do not take a risk with it.

Placement for core branches is not good irrespective of which private institute you belong to. So, if you are choosing a private institute make sure that it is in a location from where you can easily take coaching for competitive examinations such as GATE or ESE.
