For Civil Engineering Thapar University placements are great. Here are the recent placement highlights of the branch.

Average CTC  INR 5-6 LPA
Highest CTC  INR 15 LPA
Placement rate  90%
Percentage of students getting placed in core companies  25-30%

JP Morgan, Larsen and Toubro, L&T, are some of the major recruiters that visit the campus placement frequently.

One of my cousins is an alumnus of the institute, and he does not recommend Thapar University. He says, the department of civil engineering can be slightly harsh at times, since they mostly are not concerned about their student base.

  • The civil engineering department does not often support the cause of students as well.
  • Students usually find assistance from only a few professors of the institute.
  • A total of 26 students acquired placement offers out of 120.
  • Unfortunately, the placement percentage remains to be about only 20%, with the inclusion of both core and non-core sectors.
  • The downside, however, is that recruiters do not often choose civil engineering students, irrespective of their academic credentials.
  • For instance, companies like Fluor India, Bechtel, BEL, Deloitte, and others.
  • The major drawback the institute faces is the absence of PSU placements.
  • The placement cell does not often put effort into the department of civil engineering.
Categories Civil Engineering at Thapar University
Highest CTC 10.5 LPA (JP Morgan)
Average CTC 5-6 LPA (L&T, Maruti Suzuki)
Recruiting Companies Auto Ninja, Simplex Infrastructures, Shapoorji Pallonji, Systra MVA Consulting, etc.

In any case whatsoever, it is suggested that you put effort into learning the concepts and cracking GATE. Besides, you should try to get your hands on the PSU.
