Admissions are based on applications received through the Common Admission Test (CAT), which is held in November each year at various locations across India by the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs). Short-listed candidates must take a written test and a personal interview, as well as provide three Letters of Reference from people who are familiar with their academic or professional performance.

The final decision is depended on CAT performance, Scholastic Achievement, Work Experience, Writing Ability Test performance, and an interview.

The first step to getting enrolled in IIMB is to register and appear for CAT Examination.

It would be better for you if you enroll at a coaching institute for preparation for the CAT. The score obtained in the exam is not the only parameter for selection. The institute also takes into account the academics, work experience and extracurricular activities of the applicant.

IIM Bangalore prefers applicants with some work experience, while IIM Ahmedabad and Calcutta mostly select freshers.

The next round involved in the selection process is the Interview round. IIM Bangalore interviews lie somewhere in between stressful interviews and good interviews. Freshers, in general, get grilled a lot by the interviewers which can be one of the reasons why very few of the freshers applicants get the opportunity for candidature by the institute.

Any previous work experience which you may have can be of great benefit in your favor, or it can even act against you if you are not prepared thoroughly. Work experience would always be a good topic for conversations. You can use this opportunity to put forth all valuable aspects you can bring to the institute, how you can contribute to the various institutional activities and how your work experience has taught you to quickly comprehend what is being taught.

Finally, you will get selected based upon the CAT score obtained, academic achievements, work experience, Written Test score, and Interview performance.
