Yes, IIMs do have a certain intake of freshers every year. Anyone without work experience can try their luck at IIM Bangalore as 20-30% of the batch comprises freshers. The reason for such an intake of freshers is that Recruiters from the Marketing and Finance sectors usually prefer a fresher given the nature of the jobs and roles offered. In the Marketing sector, you have to first go through Sales roles which are suitable for a fresher only. Even in Finance, the roles require a lot of working hours which might not be possible for someone with good work experience. Unless you have worked Sales/Marketing or have CA/CFA, recruiters prefer freshers only for such jobs.

This rule is applied somewhat similarly to other IIMs the only difference being the weightage given to different criteria.

If you are a fresher with average academic records, then switch to IIM Calcutta because Bangalore focuses a lot on academic performance and this might lower your chances of admission.

Yes, B.Com graduates are eligible to apply, provided you scored the required CAT percentile. IIM Bangalore section criteria have different weightage for CAT score, past academics, work experience, etc. As an applicant from non-engineering background, you will get diversity points. Try to get a high CAT percentile, to make your profile stand out.

Yes, after you have completed B.Com you will be able to get admission in IIM Bangalore.

  • However, the admission depends on your percentile, followed by the scores you have achieved in your secondary and higher secondary exams.
  • IIM Bangalore takes these scores into account and puts great stress on them same.
  • Apart from the marks, you have obtained in your secondary and higher secondary exams, they will also consider your CAT percentile.
  • It is the category in which the student falls and if they are not from an engineering background.
  • You will get an additional point for not being an engineer.

By not being an engineer, an applicant can make up for the lack of experience for getting admission to IIM Bangalore. An impressive percentile in CAT is essential for admission.
