No, you should not choose new IIMs over XLRI Jamshedpur, just because of the IIM tag. XLRI is among the most reputed management institutes in the country. It ranks right after the top IIMs, i.e. IIM A, B, and C, along with ISB, FMS, and IIML.

XLRI is easily among the top 5 B-Schools in India at present. It is even compared to IIM ABC. It is way ahead of new IIMs. Even IIM L, K, or I are not considered at par with XLRI.

Here are the recent placement highlights for XLRI.

Average CTC	25 LPA
Median CTC	23 LPA
Highest CTC	50 LPA
Major recruiters	DE Shaw, Master Card, TCS

XLRI is far ahead of the new IIM and has a better bread value.
