Is it mandatory for new students to bring a laptop in their first year in IIIT Guwahati? Doesn't the institute have a computer center or other facilities? (in new campus)

It is not mandatory for you to bring a laptop in your first year. The new campus of IIIT Guwahati is already well-equipped with resourceful labs and you may not require a laptop immediately. There is a computer center that has 300+ computers, which is available to students. Apart from that, every department has 50+ computers.

But in this digital age, it is always better to have your own laptop. Especially if you are from CSE or ECE branch. It will prove to be really helpful for your studies. If you are interested in coding, having a good laptop is necessary. Since it is difficult to carry out meaningful coding on smartphones.
