How is the executive MBA from XLRI?
The 1-year PGDM(GM)/GMP program offered by XLRI is one of the best MBA programs in the country. The duration of the program is 15 months out of which you will have to spend 12 months on campus.
- The curriculum is similar to that of the 2-year long program. You will also have the same faculty. XLRI has one of the best faculty bases in the country.
- You will get to be a part of the XL mafia, i.e. the extensive network of XL alums. They are recruited in top positions of many reputed MNCs. There are also a significant number of successful entrepreneurs. Such a vast alumni network definitely has its own advantages.
- Since 5-year work experience is the least requirement, you will have peers from Marine Logistics to NGOs. As the curriculum is case-based, you will have the opportunity to discuss many cases with your peers from different backgrounds.
- You will get to experience the overall XL culture. There are ample opportunities to interact with the students from BM/HR programs. These are one of the top MBA programs in the country.

An executive course is a one-year MBA degree for working professionals, whereas a full-time PGDM is for two regular years, like all other MBA degrees. The executive course at IMT Ghaziabad is quite good. They have concise and to-the-point courses and complete almost the whole two-year program in one year. Placements for executive students may not be as many, as most of them are already working, but they do help in placements for other students.
If you choose to pursue a correspondence course, it does not matter as much where you pursue it.
IIM Shillong, being an IIM, has its own prestige. But when compared to all B-schools Rankings, IMT Ghaziabad is definitely higher up the charts than IIM Shillong or SPJAIN PGDM. If given the option, it would be better to choose IMT Ghaziabad or IIM Shillong over SPJAIN PGDM. If you are looking for a campus experience, Ghaziabad would be a better personal preference.

PGP is a full-time 2-year program ranked in the top 20 programs in the World in the Master in Management category. You will find the PGPEM program is quite an executive correspondence course ranked among the top 100 in the executive education category. Only the EPGP and the PGP offer you placement at senior and junior positions respectively.

Following are the reasons to avoid getting into Alliance University:
- The faculty of this university for this course is very poor and doesn't offer proper support to its students.
- The course curriculum is not that great and is very outdated when compared to other popular colleges offering the same course.

- Companies don't treat the employees as nicely, so if you're planning to do PGDM, try doing it from any other top universities where you will get much respect and recognition which you truly deserve.

IMT Ghaziabad is definitely a good choice for MBA. Many reputed companies visit the campus. But since you didn’t mention your career goal after completing the course, it’s difficult to say whether it will be suitable for you or not.
If you want to pursue an executive MBA to change your stream then ISB Hyderabad will be better.
Also, you should consider a part-time MBA instead of a distance one. There are many reputed Management colleges like IITs, FMS Delhi conducts part-time MBA courses during weekends or evenings. In distance programs especially in courses like MBA, it gets difficult because the students are unable to go through the practical knowledge which comes from interacting directly with the industries. Google and search colleges that are near your location.
How is the IIM Ahmedabad executive MBA program different from the IIM Ahmedabad MBA program?

XLRI has a strong reputation for Human Resource (HR) management and Industrial Relations (IR) studies. If an individual is specifically interested in HR/IR, then XLRI would be a better option compared to NMIMS (Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies). However, if you are looking for a general management program, then NMIMS would be a better choice because of its excellent peer group and rigorous curriculum.
XLRI is still a good institute for other streams, but it is more specialized in HR and IR. Similarly, NMIMS is known for its general management program, and it may not have the same level of expertise as XLRI in HR/IR.
Is anyone pursuing PGDBA course jointly conducted by IIM Calcutta, IIT Kharagpur and ISI Kolkata. What is the scope of this new course?
My friend had opted for the PGDBA course jointly conducted by IIM Calcutta, IIT Kharagpur, and ISI Kolkata. She claims it to be the best decision of her life.
- Course: The course curriculum comprises R, Python, Hadoop, MapReduce, Spark, Radian6, and Sql and is highly industry relevant. You get to work on a lot of data. The course also includes a number of projects that can be done based on the subjects chosen. On average, a student works on 2-4 projects.
- Exposure: Since the course is industry relevant, one can expect frequent industry expert visits and guest lectures. These academic collaborations ensure maximum exposure.
- Job prospects: This course is not for you if you have a specific company in mind. This is because the course is relatively new and has yet to make its mark among top companies. It also depends on whether the recruiting company is looking for people with Analytical skills.
The same friend who graduated from this course had worked on a total of 14 projects and ended up interning with McKinsey. At the end of her internship, McKinsey planned to create a new role - Data Scientist for graduates and other similar recruits. Since then, a lot of big companies have participated in internships and placements in addition to international offers. Since then, the demand for the course has been increasing.
Today, the placement reports show an average placement offer of INR 3507000 which is more than the course fee of INR 2400000.
We can safely conclude that this course places you well within the industry and is worth the high fee spent.
