One of my friends studied at IIIT Naya Raipur, so in the following, some points are highlighted considering this institute.
- Growth: Their laboratory infrastructure is well-furnished and provides all the basic facilities to the students, including high-speed internet. The campus is very peaceful and safe. All research projects, workshops, E-cells events and seminars are continuously conducted here. These help this institute to grow quite rapidly.
- Placement: My friend once told me that one of his seniors had secured AIR 11 in GATE; however, he is now pursuing M.Tech studies at Cornell. The achievements of the student’s project have a growing prospect for this institute. As it is guided by IIIT Hyderabad, the median salary is higher than the other institutes of India.

- Atmosphere:There is a quota for the students who come from Chhattisgarh; besides, there is also an NTPC quota. Telugu state students bond with the Telugu squad. Thus, there is a huge diversity in the student’s background.
- Faculty: Director of this institute has a Doctoral Degree (PhD) from Tokyo University. One of the professors, Mr Ramakrishna Bandi, achieved a PhD from IIT Roorkee and followed Post-Doc from IIT Bombay.
- Food: Mess foods here are homelier than the other institutes. It is less oily. However, the good thing is that the mess committee takes the student’s opinion and tries to make food as per their preferences. Thereby, a student can try to be the mess committee member, but it is not compulsory at all; they can be on the side with someone who is already the member.
- Hostel: Hostels here are cleared every day. Students will get a room with a bed, a cupboard, mattress, a desk, a chair, along with all the necessary stuff. Students have to pay meagre maintenance fees for their hostel accommodation. The hostel staff are amicable and provide low-rate laundry services to the students, but the students can also pay to use the washing machines at the shopping complex.
So, it is suggested that you go for IIIT Naya Raipur, because it will provide you with all the necessities required for a student in their daily life.

- It's always better to go for a sure future than to take a risk with a not-so-sure future.

Which institute should I join, IIIT Naya Raipur or NIT Raipur?
As a student of IIIT Naya Raipur, I will tell you about the facilities provided at my college-
- IIIT Naya Raipur is newly established which means it has a modern infrastructure. The labs and lecture halls are well-equipped with ACs. Electronics labs contain all the necessary hardware and software equipment. Data science labs are good as well. The library is two-floored and contains a wide range of books. The hostel rooms are well-made. Canteen and mess facilities are provided in the hostels.
- The entire campus, including the hostels, canteen area and ground, all are covered by a strong wifi network.
- The curriculum is well-designed and in close alignment with the syllabus of top IITs and IIITs.
- You’ll be studying your branch from the first year itself.
- The institution has special cells developed to make its students prepare for their PG studies.
- There is a provision for special scholarships for the students, based on their performance in semester exams.
- The students from this institution have won several coding, robotics and cultural competitions at various IITs and NITs.
I don’t know much about NIT Raipur, so I can’t compare the two. However, I would suggest you reach out to some seniors from NIT Raipur as well. This will help you establish a clear comparison between the two colleges.

- It is an institute of national importance. It is run by the Central Govt. on a public-private partnership basis. Selection for admission is merit-based on an India basis.
- The location of the institute is better in terms of placements and getting internships and practical learning opportunities as compared to IIIT Raipur.
- The only point of disadvantage for the institute is that it does not have a permanent campus. But that should not matter if your branch is CSE or ECE.

How is NIT Raipur and IIIT Naya Raipur?
I am a student of NIT Raipur. Unlike before, the state of infrastructure and facilities has tremendously improved in my college. I don’t know much about IIIT Naya Raipur, but I can definitely enlighten you about the state of NIT Raipur-
- NIT Raipur has a good hostel infrastructure. There is a dual mess and lift facility within the hostels. The rooms are well furnished and spacious. Other than that, there are badminton courts and table tennis facilities.
- The campus has a huge canteen.
- The labs are well equipped with instruments and devices. This allows the students to work on advanced projects.
- As for placements, NIT Raipur was always in a good condition. Because of its NIT tag, good companies visit the campus during placement season. At present, CSE/IT branches see a very good placement record. From core branches, Mechanical, Electrical and ECE perform well. Mining also has a good placement record.
- There is a virtual classroom where video conferencing sessions, Skype interviews, etc. are conducted.
- The college has its own committees like- Cultural, Technical, E-Cell, Literary, Robotics, IEEE SB, SAE, Green Committee, Mentor-ship club, etc.
- The crowd of NIT Raipur consists of qualified students.
- The students from this college go for internships and projects in IITs and foreign Universities, like University of Nebraska. Its students also actively participate in many national level competitions, both technical and non technical. In the past, its students have secured good positions in Intel Embedded Challenge and Tata Crucible Quiz.
Thus, NIT Raipur has made tremendous improvements in every parameter. You can definitely consider this college for your engineering studies.

Nowadays people prefer NITs mainly because of their NIT tag. But in reality, IITs are institutes of national importance and should not be underestimated. Besides they focus solely on the field of Information Technology. Two other reasons why IIIT Jabalpur is a better option than NIT Jalandhar are:

Is there any provision to change branches after 1 year at IIIT Naya Raipur like there is at NIT Raipur?
Yes, you can change your branch after the first year. IIIT Raipur has such provision for students.
- In IIIT Raipur there are two branches CSE and ECE and a changing branch from CSE to ECE is easy and common.
- Most of the students change their branch from CSE to ECE. There are four-five seats in CSE and six-seven seats more likely vacant.
- You can change your branch before the beginning of the 3rd semester.
- The process of branch change allotments based on the merit list. If you have a high CGPA then you will get preference.
- The number of seats also depends on the available seats, from the previous year's admission and students who left the seat.
Therefore, you need not worry about branch change. Because many students change their branch after the first year. Its process is also easy, but branch allotment solely depends on the number of vacant seats and your CGPA.
