As for the placements, the scenario is great and almost 80% of students get a job of their choice. Some students opt for higher studies. IIT Ropar Chemical Engineering's highest package was around 44 LPA, and the average package was 20.5 LPA. Top Recruiters included companies like Goldman Sachs, Amazon, Ponds, TCS, etc.
In all, the program is a great choice if you are looking for a light curriculum!
The faculty at IIT Ropar is great. The majority of the professors hold a Ph.D. degree. They are cooperative and provide proper guidance in projects as well as examination preparations.
The lectures are enough for understanding the courses and you would not even need to take help from tuitions. Professors explain the topics in an easier way so that you can easily grasp their subject matter.
However, when it comes to attendance, you are required to maintain a 75% attendance. The professors are not lenient if the students miss the classes. The same goes with the assignments and presentations which need to meet the deadline. Delaying your submissions would only bring you in a tough position.
Here are a few reasons why you should attend IIT Ropar
In all, IIT Ropar is a great institute and has infinite reasons to be the best choice for you!
The first day of your college is always a memory close to everyone’s heart that stays with them forever. My sister who is an alumnus of IIT Ropar was very excited on her first day at her dream college.
As she entered the campus, she was awestruck by the huge campus and the building hovering over it. The design of the gates impressed her and she felt that she had come to another world. She went to the Senate Hall to get herself registered and she was assigned to the Chenab Hostel West Wing. This hostel building was towards the rear of the campus and was decent enough to stay.
Once she had settled, an orientation program was held wherein students were introduced to ISMP. The seniors guided her batchmates in matters related to campus life. She made a lot of friends on the very first day and slept as excitement took over for the Halloween Party organized the following day by ISML.
The Civil Engineering dept. at IIT Ropar believes in growing as well as standing out. The Head of the Department, Professor Deepak Kashyap is a highly experienced member of the faculty and has taught at IIT Roorkee. The students look up to him a lot.
If we talk about the infrastructure, then new and advanced labs have been commissioned. In addition to that, a state-of-the-art Soil-Water-Plant lab has been set up which covers an area of 2.5 acres in the new campus. A number of text and reference books journals for research have been procured by the institute to be made available for the students for their convenience.
The faculty is in constant interaction with the authorities of the Government of Punjab for organizing activities that involve collaboration. They have already conducted several studies in consulting and also building a training program for PUDA engineers.
A computer model of groundwater flow and transport that is comprehensive is also being developed. Recently, the Newton-Bhabha has offered INR 1 crore as financial backing to the first research project of the department of civil engineering. It also plans to increase the intake of B.Tech aspirants and introduce the M.Tech course.
IIT Ropar was known to have a relatively good placement record for computer science (CS) graduates. Despite being around for only 15 years, IIT Ropar's placements have been solid and becoming better each year. The following are some significant data points from last two years placement campaign:

IIT Ropar had a favorable placement record, particularly in fields like computer science and engineering. The institute had a high placement percentage with reputable companies offering competitive salary packages. However, placement outcomes can vary from year to year
To become an assistant professor at IIT Ropar you must first obtain a PhD. This is the minimum eligibility criteria for any IIT to apply for the post of assistant professor.
Then you will have to compete with many other candidates and to stay above the competition you will need to have an outstanding academic career throughout.
You will also need to have various published papers in many international and reputed journals. This will give you an edge over others.
This is a suggestion beyond the scope of this question. But if you can start low in a company and struggle for 2-3 years, I believe that you can land a more lucrative and satisfying job later on. Doing an M.Tech and then a Ph.D. will take a very long time.
It’s true that MTech in CSE has lesser scope and opportunities than BTech in CSE as companies are looking for freshers who can give it their all and work passionately. Also, the obsolete PG curriculum is responsible for the declining figures. IIT Ropar MTech in CSE placements have been tabulated below
