One of my friends was a student in SPPU so I asked him about the policy for giving grace marks there. He mentioned a few scenarios where his batchmates received grace marks
- One of them received grace marks in an exam in which he actually scored 36. This course was from the 3rd semester. So he probably got grace marks because he had cleared all the subjects in the previous semesters.
- In the third year, he again secured 39 marks in DME and because he already has received grace marks before, he failed in the subjects. So once you get grace marks, it’s impossible to get it again.
- Another batchmate got a backlog when he was in the last semester of Engineering. He had got an offer from a good university for MS and therefore requested the university to give him grace marks although he had some backlogs in his 2nd and 3rd years the university granted him grace marks and he was awarded the degree.
So, to avail of grace marks at SPPU, one needs to have a good academic record. Usually, the limit of maximum marks is less than 10.
How do I convert SGPA to percentage under Pune University rules?
According to the Pune University rules, the conversion of SGPA to percentage is done in the following way.
Percentage of marks(%) = CGPA * 8.80

How can I get a degree certificate from Pune University if not collected at convocation?
If you haven't collected your degree certificate from Pune University during convocation, the university will send it to your respective college. However, if you haven't received it yet, you must take the initiative to inquire with the convocation department to obtain your certificate.
When applying for a degree certificate during convocation, the best option is to apply for it by post. This way, the university will courier the certificate to the address specified in your application. This ensures that you receive the certificate without any hassle and saves you the trouble of going to the university to collect it in person.
Does Pune University send transcripts directly to the WES address abroad?
No, Pune University doesn’t send transcripts directly to the WES address abroad. You will need to send the transcripts to WES.
By following the required steps apply for the transcripts. You will receive the transcripts 60 days after submitting the documents. Make sure that you are ordering two transcript copies of each stream. Once you receive the transcripts, open only one copy of the transcript. Follow the steps below to send documents to WES.
- You will have to create your profile on WES. Make sure that you are selecting the right country.
- Go through the instructions and fill up the required details properly
- After all the details are filled out, pay the required amount and you will receive the reference number.
- After that, you will have to fill up academic records requests for each stream separately. You can download it from Application WES, online.
- Then visit Pune University, Examination Hall, and submit the Academic Records Request Form with the original transcript. Note that, on the Academic Records Request Form, putting down the WES reference number is compulsory and you will have to fill up the details in section A only.
You will receive the sealed package from the university the next day and you can send it through Indian Post or from DHL/FEDEX Courier.

If you are sending your transcripts through Express Courier then make sure that the From address is the University address which will be mentioned on the sealed transcript package. Otherwise, WES will not accept your courier.

- For non-professional courses, the required fees for transcript certificate is INR 115/-. While for professional courses, the required fee is INR 150/-. You need to pay the fee via a demand draft drawn in favor of The Registrar, University of Pune.
- If you want to receive your transcript certificate outside of India, you need to pay the International postal charges by Demand Draft.

If I have 3 backlogs in 1st year then would I be eligible for 2nd year in Pune university?
According to the present pattern, SPPU follows the credit system. In order to pass the exam, you have to score a credit score of more than 25. Doing so will help you to pass even if you have backlogs in subjects if you get a combined credit score of more than 25.
You will be promoted to 2nd year along with the backlogs which must be cleared in the next examinations. Try not to get any backlog as it is mandatory to clear all past backlogs to get to 3rd year.
