I am a BTech Mechanical graduate from LPU. Here is an honest review on the placement scenario at LPU (in engineering)-
The placement scenario is poor for Civil, Mechanical and Electrical. Few companies visit these departments for placements, and hire a maximum of 5-10 students in total. But if someone knows basic coding, they can sit for IT placements.
Cognizant, Tech Mahindra, etc. visit the CSE/IT departments for mass hiring. Very few core companies visit the ECE department for recruitments, so the students rely on IT companies. A mere 40/50 out of 1000 ECE students get hired by an Electronics company from the campus. The IT companies mass hire students at a CTC of around 3.5 LPA.
This is the engineering placement scenario at LPU.
Placements at LPU are decent and this year the highest CTC recorded was INR 8 LPA and the placement percentage stood at 90%.
One of my friends told me that when he was in his final year, many big companies visited the campus. Some of them included Wipro and Cognizant. Around 2000-3000 students applied and almost everyone appeared for the interview.
The above episode conveys the point that placements are more affected by individual skills than the institute. A university can open doors for you by inviting big companies and conducting interviews but ultimately it depends on your level of hard work and how well you want to avail of the resources available.
Your placement depends upon both skills and expertise. But, in terms of LPU, there are several companies that visit the campus for placements. However, very few students receive a high placement package.
LPU is one of the best private universities that offer students more than 250 programs. Engineering, out of which, is on the high end of demand. LPU shortly has been awarded the “National Employability Award-2020”.
