How is IIIT, Guwahati for ECE?

The ECE department of the IIIT Guwahati is not that good. I have a few friends at the institute and they complain about the infrastructure, faculty, and rules at the institute. Here are a few things that they experienced over the years. 

• Most of the college professors belong to the communication domain. 
• The curriculum of the ECE is old and has not been changed in years. There are core subjects in the curriculum in the 4th year and there is no lab for them as well.
• The coding is also introduced in the 2nd year in the embedded systems course. 
• Most of the students have complained that you will not get good learning from this college and it is better to do self-study and prepare for GATE exams. 
• You will only be allowed to drive your focus on analog circuits and communication. Only two faculty members have been allocated to teach Digital VLSI, AI, and new technologies.
• The students also are not very satisfied with the doubt clearing sessions as only one or two faculties respond and clarify their doubts when the session is over. 
• You are also not allowed to use the labs in your initial years. Only in the presence of seniors, you will be allowed to use the labs.

So, I will advise you to talk to current students and alumni of the institute to know the real scenario at the institute before deciding to take admission.
