What have been your most interesting interview experiences at BIT Mesra?

My cousin is from BIT Mesra. During placement, he appeared for 4 placement interviews in just 8 days. The recruiters were Amazon, Facebook, DEShaw, and Directi. He was going to appear for the fifth interview. He cleared the coding and interview round. There were three more students who had made it till there and were selected.

Only one of his batchmates had his interview the same day and he had to appear for it from his hostel room only. He waited for an hour and HR told him that he would be appearing for the final interview the next noon, while all the others had their interviews the next morning. He confirmed if all three of them would be having their interviews in the noon, but they said that except for him, the rest of the boys would be having their interviews in the morning. They decided to call the T&P office. The mentor said, “They did not send an official mail but they confirmed all four had cleared the interview number 2 on the phone..”

They were confused and thought that one of them might not have made it. All they could do was, wait for the next day and hope that they had cleared the interview. The next day, when Flipkart HR called, they came to know that among the four of them, my cousin was the only one whose interview was not scheduled. When they asked about him, HR said, “We’ll talk about him after the interviews of the rest of the candidates.”

He waited for more than two hours at the T&P cell. Even after the interviews of both his friends were over, they told nothing about him. Finally, the T&P coordinator called HR and asked specifically about him and they said, “We are done with the interviews for Shikhar.”

He was told that he didn’t clear last night’s interview. After the interview was over, he got the news that the two of his friends and he himself were selected. He couldn’t believe the news and went to the T&P office for confirmation. In the T&P office, he was shown the notification saying congratulations to the Flipkart selects and also read the names of the three of them. This was a moment that he would probably not forget in the near future.
