What improvements are needed to make IIEST, Shibpur, a premier one which excels overall?

The following are some improvements needed according to the students and teachers, to make IIEST, Shibpur a premier institute. These include providing proper and all the necessary facilities. Students are gonna spend most of their time in the campus, thus improvement of all the basic facilities are required.

1. Lab Facilities: IIEST's laboratory facilities are not good and equipped, such as Aerospace Engineering. As IIEST is the only college in India that offers Aerospace Engineering, so it is better if the laboratory condition would be better.
2. Workshops: The workshops of IIEST are not up to grade. It would be better if management improves it.
3. Elective Subjects: In IIEST, elective subjects are introduced from the first year such as Manufacturing Methodology etc. The introduction of tough electives in the first year makes students confused, which results in poor grading.
4. Bandwidth Network: The college bandwidth network is not good as it is not connected to the ultra high bandwidth network, which interconnects the other Scientific and Technological Institutions. The high bandwidth is very important in such technological institutions which are provided for free by the Indian Government. Most of the IITs and NIITs are using it, but IIEST does not have this facility.
5. Language: Professors mostly teach in Bengali. In IIEST students from all over the country come to study. So it is important that professors speak and teach in a common English language that doesn’t build a communication gap between student and professor.

IIEST lacks some important points and facilities, but it is all a good college. If you are thinking of joining it, then go for it, you will definitely not regret taking admission here.
