If you're looking to evaluate the reputation of BIT Sindri, here are some solid grounds to consider:

  • Return on Investment (ROI): The tuition fee for Engineering at BIT Sindri is only Rs. 80,000 for the entire course, which means a very high return on investment. By comparison, in NITs and IITs, the fee for one semester alone can be as much as Rs. 40,000. Private colleges can charge as much as Rs. 80,000 for one semester.
  • Alumni and Alumni Network: BIT Sindri was established in 1949, which means it has a rich legacy and a vast alumni network all over the world. BIT Sindri alumni hold top management positions in many Indian PSUs and abroad. They are also entrepreneurs of many big companies in various fields.
  • Lab and Professors: BIT Sindri's labs were so good in the 1960s that even IIT Kharagpur students used to come here to do their research in Sindri, particularly for Aerodynamics and High-tension Electrical Labs. While some of the labs may be outdated now, the Jharkhand Government has allocated more than Rs. 170 crore for the college, and labs are being renovated with new technologies. Although there is a scarcity of professors at BIT Sindri, recent hiring of PhDs from IITs has bridged some of the gap. Some professors are technically proficient and also help students to get internships in the industry.
  • Campus: BIT Sindri has a sprawling lush green campus of around 400 acres, with some old and new buildings. Hostels have been renovated. Although it takes around one hour from Dhanbad, there is no multiplex or mall in Sindri. The campus lacks in sports amenities, but Open Air theater and Auditorium are excellent, where all the rock concerts and cultural fests are organized.
  • BIT'an Senior-Junior Bond: The bond between senior and junior students is strong at BIT Sindri. They guide each other on how to crack exams (GATE, CAT, GRE), throw parties, and help with monetary needs. It's like a brotherly relationship. Senior students also help new students arrange accommodation and understand the dynamics of various departments in Steel plants.
  • Quality of Students in BIT: The top 20% of students in any branch at BIT Sindri are at par with IIT students. Many students have cracked GATE, BARC, ISRO, CSIR-NML lab, and CAT. Many reputed core companies come here for recruitment.
  • Life in BIT: BIT Sindri has the best mess food, with room delivery facility, and many clubs for socializing and enhancing interpersonal skills. BIT'an runs Prayaas India, an NGO that is dedicated to teaching underprivileged children from nearby areas and organizing blood donation camps (more than 500 units of blood donation in a year).
