There are many dropouts every year from IIT Delhi and IIT Kharagpur. This is because there is intense academic pressure on the students at the IITs. The IITs have strict academics, and the huge coursework can be very overwhelming for the students.

The students are under constant pressure to produce the best results. This causes most of them to suffer and eventually drop out. They face burnout and stress, which is why they take such a big step.

Another reason is that some students enter the IITs with unrealistic expectations. These are obviously not met, so they choose to drop out. Some students also take this step because of financial difficulties and family emergencies. Then there are students who get good job opportunities, and so they choose to drop out during their PG or doctoral degrees. There is also a group of students who take this step to follow their passions, as they come to realize that IITs were not their dream after all.

These are the most common reasons why students end up dropping out from top IITs like IIT Delhi and IIT KGP.

Reasons to Drop-out:

  • There are people who motivate students by saying that cracking JEE Advance and going to an IIT is the final task to settle in life. This is a wrong notion that is usually imbibed into the minds of students.
  • There are instances in which students, after getting into IIT, can’t cope up with the syllabus. They get frustrated, and before things turn out to be worse, they quit engineering.
  • On the other hand, there are some students, who after getting into engineering realize that they have a different passion in life and try to make a career in it, thus quitting the degree program.

These are some of the reasons prevalent for dropouts in IITs. But, it is to be considered that engineering is a way of life. It teaches the students to pass through any ups and downs in life as well as careers.
