Among IIM ABC, IIM Ahmedabad is most preferred by MBA aspirants. The long-standing legacy is the reason why most people view IIM A as a superior option. However, all three of these IIMs are almost on the same level in terms of academics and placements. IIM Ahmedabad is most preferred for Marketing. While IIM Bangalore is well-known for offering good Consulting job roles. For Finance specialization, IIM Calcutta is the first choice for students.

The faculties and infrastructure are great at all three of these institutes. People who have the choice between these three IIMs, usually choose based on the specialization they are interested in.

  • IIM A offers case-study-based academics. In the first year, the academic load is intense. The academic pressure is less in the 2nd year. Your grade will depend on class participation and performance in surprise quizzes.
  • IIM B offers balanced academics for both years. Lectures are a mixture of concepts and case studies.
  • Academics at IIM C is balanced across both years. Their teaching methodology includes lectures on concepts, case studies, seminars, etc. More weightage is given to mid-term and end-term.

  • IIM B has the highest number of tie-ups.
  • IIM C offers CEMS certification. Through this certification, you will get a degree that is well-known in Europe.

It’s important to understand which colleges qualify and what are the perks of ranking, placements, alumni, quality of academia, exchange programs and different other factors that become the deciding points about the difference of each college.

Difference in Colleges:

IIM CALCUTTA:

  • It is well known among recruiters that finance is a logically enhanced trade and is not a strong point for IIM Calcutta. IIM, Calcutta placements are considered to be down the slide and it somehow comes only at the bottom half of the recruitment groups.
  • This unfortunately results in producing various outsourcing managers and even techs who are only left behind in secluded Indian offices if compared to other IIM campuses.
  • One of the greatest plus points is the location. But, still the main focus is always on your midterms, end-terms and your numerical solving ability (not essential in finance, but indeed required in Operations and Quant - back office jobs)

In IIMC, there are however vivid case studies, lectures on concepts, seminars and more. In the general run of things of IIMC, lectures are quant intensive.

IIM AHMEDABAD:

  • IIM Ahmedabad graduates jump straight ahead to Global jobs where they manage entrepreneurial jobs. IIM Ahmedabad holds a fort in its academic pressure with surprise quizzes, readings, cases from term 1 till term 6. IIMA remains number one for CEOs and to be CEOs and thus climbs no.1 in Indian MBA schools.
  • Ahmedabad has its hands in world class innovative placement experiences, even before others. But, it still is not satisfied with the need of its strong hands in the consulting placements. IIM Ahmedabad allows you to select your own electives, flexibly allowing for the best placements you can get in the market.

The college has 25.5 credits in the first year and 17.5 credits in the 2nd year. It is in fact case intensive.

IIM BANGALORE:

  • IIM Bangalore lets you get comfortable with your own academic speed, but the only hard working students score good grades. Coursework and case studies go hand in hand, here with case studies being the elective one. If you want a banking job, always choose Bangalore.
  • It is very swift in allotting electives that permits your batch the best placement leverage. The plus point is that it always brings brand new subjects every year with all the high qualified faculties from the East coast, Tri state area and other various parts of the world.

The courses are balanced across both years, which definitely is a great point. The credits that follow are 50 credits each year, 1 course equates to 3 credits.

Ultimately it depends on you and your overall performance in your entrance exam, but all the colleges are good in some of their aspects while IIMA students get global job opportunities and IIMB is good if you want to go for banking.
