My brother had his IIM Kozhikode on 1st February 2022. It was an online interview. Here is his experience in brief.

Profile:

  • 10th Percentage - 81%
  • 12th Percentile - 91%
  • Graduation (BMS Finance from SSCBS) - 85%
  • CAT Percentile - 96.5

There were 3 panelists. After the document verification, they started the interview.

  • First, there was an introduction round. They about my brother’s college, his hobbies.
  • They asked him about his specialization, what he likes about finance. For the next 5-10 mins, there was a discussion about the stock market. The 2nd panelist asked him how he select stocks.

The interview ended with a few questions regarding his background and some informal questions. Overall his interview went well and he is waiting for his results.

Studied Post Graduate Programme in Management at Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (2020)

One of my friends is a Final year Electronics and Communication student from NIT Warangal. As per his experience, the interview was a quick rapid fire. His scored 99.34 percentile in CAT.

Following points are based on his experience of interview at IIM Kozhikode:

  • There were 3 panelists, an economics professor, a marketing professor, and another general professor. There was a lot of grilling involved and it is advisable to go prepared. They can cut you at any time.
  • His interview started with general questions about his day and then proceeded towards the grade sheet. He had scored low in the initial few semesters so they asked questions regarding that. You must present a strong answer here and make sure they believe in what you are saying and that you are capable of bettering yourself.
  • Other questions asked in the interview included what other calls he had received from other places.
  • If they ask you about your favorite subject from your major, be prepared to answer questions related to that. For e.g. in my friends’ case, his favorite subject was 5G signal communication and he was asked the difference between Jio and other service providers.
  • The interviewers also asked multiple questions regarding his position as general secretary of the college and why he should be selected at IIM.

Believe me, if you have similar interviewees, you will get cut multiple times without finishing your sentence. My friend was asked if he would be able to balance academics and extracurriculars especially in a scene of rigorous PGP.

  • The interview further proceeded with a number of questions being asked on Maths and stats as well. He thought he was going to fail pretty badly.
  • You might be asked to solve a number of questions on paper and stats as well. My friend was asked to guess the population of Madhya Pradesh. It is suggested to do some smart math in this case and come up with something that is convincing.
  • Other questions included speaking on India as a brand, the Euler Totient theorem, and how he prepared for the interview.

If they ask you if you have any questions for them, you definitely should go ahead and sort them out. My friend was selected in the interview.
