First, you should decide which course you want to pursue CSE or Mechanical as that would help in comparing institutes and choose the one with the better program.

Despite being a new IIT, IIT Bhubaneswar offers good CSE programs both in terms of academics and placements. The School of Electrical Sciences offers experienced faculties from subject backgrounds and have 33 full-fledged laboratories well equipped with necessary instrumentation. There has been a surge in the placement at IIT Bhubaneswar over the last few years, in the 2019 placement drive the CSE department had the highest placement rate, around 100%. The average placement package offered at this institute was 11.4 LPA.

IIT Madras ranks at 1 among the engineering colleges in India, according to the NIRF Rankings 2020. Mechanical Engineering is one of the oldest departments and it houses excellent experimental and computational facilities including the recently established high-performance computing facility with access to the latest analysis tools. The placement highlights of 2019 show there was 75% placement from mechanical and the average CTC offered was around 16.1 LPA.

IIT ISM Dhanbad is an old institute with a large alumni base that shows in the placement record. In the 2019 placement drive, 90.23% of students from the CSE department received placement and the highest placement package offered to the students of this department was around 39.5 LPA.
