Which is better, the Xavier School of Management (XLRI), or the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta (IIMC)?

Fringed with 7 lakes, the IIMC is one of the oldest B-schools in India. The institute offers postgraduate and doctoral programs with an MBA being its flagship program. The B-School has a strong collaboration with universities across North and South America, such as Copenhagen Business School, Ivey Business School, and Bocconi University. The curriculum of IIMC also comprises the Student Exchange Program.

XLRI is run by the Society of Jesus (Jesuits) in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, India, and is one of the oldest B-Schools in India. XLRI provides two-year management postgraduate diplomas (PGDM) with different specializations as well as a fellowship program at the doctoral level (FPM).

Admission:

• Admission to the MBA program at IIMC is based on the CAT/GMAT score followed by Group Discussion and Interview.

• Admission to postgraduate programs at XLRI is done through scores obtained XAT/GMAT entrance test and work experience of a minimum of 3 years.

• IIMC has been ranked 3rd for IIMs by NIRF 2020 and XLRI has been ranked 1st for Private MBA by Outlook 2020.

Renowned alumni of IIMC include Ramachandra Guha who is an Indian Writer and renowned alumni of XLRI include Vineet Nayar who is former CEO of HCL Technologies.

• XLRI has student societies for Extra-curricular activities, Co-Curricular activities, Functional Committees, Informat Committees, and Interest Groups. Extra-curricular societies such as DRACULA, SIGMA-Oikos, SportsCom, XLANC, etc.
