What is the current scenario of placements for VLSI in IIT Roorkee and IIT Hyderabad?

NIRF has ranked IIT Hyderabad at 8 for Engineering in 2020. It is also ranked 15th overall by QS 2020. Whereas, IIT Roorkee has been ranked 6th for Engineering by NIRF 2020. IIT Hyderabad and IIT Roorkee offer M.Tech in microelectronics and VLSI. M tech in microelectronics and VLSI is a 2-year full-time postgraduate course.

Mtech in microelectronics and VLSI involves the subjects that help students with basic competencies and also help them to learn about design, analysis, and application of electronics and communication circuits. MTech in VLSI helps to understand programming and transistor wise analysis of the circuit.

Admission:

• The aspirants seeking admission to a 2-year full-time Mtech program in microelectronics and VLSI must have completed graduation from the recognized Institute or university.

• The applicant must have at least 60% aggregate in BTech.

• The candidate would be eligible if they are GATE qualified for admissions in the Mtech program. The applicants are evaluated on the basis of GATE scores and on the basis of merit.

The grand total (two years/four-semester) for completing MTech in IIT Roorkee is INR 53,000 however in IIT Hyderabad it is INR 2 lacs.

IIT Roorkee:

• The average placement offered for MTech in Electronics and VLSI was 18 LPA.

IIT Hyderabad:

• IIT Hyderabad witnessed more than 80% placements.

• 96 + companies visited the campus for recruitment of students.

• 98 out of 154 students from Mtech were placed with an offer.

• The highest placement offer for MTech in VLSI was 10.7 LPA.

• The top recruitment companies included Arista, DE Shaw, Accenture, Amazon, Intel, Mediatek, etc.

There is plenty of growth and less intensive work with an MTech in VLSI. Both IIT Roorkee and IIT Hyderabad offer M tech in microelectronics and VLSI. In terms of placement, IIT Roorkee provides better opportunities for students. Various companies visit the institution as it is one of the oldest engineering colleges in India. In the terms of fees, IIT Roorkee is more affordable than IIT Hyderabad.
