Which is good for a B.Arch: SPA Bhopal or MANIT Bhopal?

As far as academics are concerned, SPA Bhopal is better in my opinion. This is backed by the fact that SPA Bhopal requires higher JEE Paper 2 ranks for admission into its B.Arch program. Additionally, SPAs are dedicated to Architecture and Planning studies. So they have a higher branch value in the field of Architecture.

Now, MANIT Bhopal is also a good college. One advantage is that it is located in Bhopal city. On the other hand, SPA Bhopal is located on the city outskirts.

For branch value, join SPA Bhopal. But for a better exposure to city life and the associated advantages, join MANIT Bhopal.

Even though I’m a B.Arch student at MANIT Bhopal, I will offer an unbiased opinion on both these colleges-

• MANIT Bhopal- The NIT tag holds a lot of value, but it isn’t enough to ensure bright career prospects. Some of the faculty members are good, and the department has a strong alumni network. But one doesn’t get the best environment over here. This is because- 

• MANIT is conventionally an Engineering college, and one lives around B.Tech students. Since their course requirements are completely different, one fails to deliver the best in our daily/weekly assignments.

• Some faculty members hesitate from using new teaching methods, and prefer sticking to old teaching techniques. This practice consumes more and more time.

• The department doesn’t organize as many lecture sessions from field architects as it should. 

• The department lacks a common knowledge sharing platform of its own. 

• The department doesn’t encourage students taking part in any competition.

• SPA Bhopal- Though it is a new college, it has a huge potential. It is completely devoted to Architecture and Planning studies, and this allows a better learning environment for students of Architecture.

I would recommend SPA Bhopal over MANIT Bhopal. However, first try to reach out to some seniors from SPA Bhopal to get a clearer idea of the ground reality over there.
