Some well known and successful alumni of VNIT Nagpur are-

• Ramesh Jain- He is a scientist and entrepreneur in the field of Information and Computer Science. 

He is a Bren Professor in Information & Computer Sciences, at Donald Bren School of Information and Computer Sciences, University of California, Irvine. 

Previously, he has served as a professor of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Michigan and the University of California.

He is the founding Editor-in-Chief of IEEE MultiMedia magazine and the Machine Vision and Applications journal. 

• Dinesh Keskar (Mechanical Engineering)- He is the President of Boeing India, and VP of Boeing International Trading.

• Jayarama Chalasani- He is the Chief Executive at Reliance Power Limited. He was previously a full-time Director of Reliance Infrastructure Limited.

• M.S. Unnikrishnan (Mechanical Engineering)-He is the Managing Director of Thermax Ltd. Additionally, he serves as its Chief Executive Officer and Member of the Executive Council.

• Dr. Nemkumar Banthia (UBC Civil Engineering)- He is the Professor of Civil Engineering, Distinguished University Scholar, and a Canada Research Chair at the University of British Columbia. 

He is credited for his contributions to the fundamental understanding of sprayed concrete including particle and fiber kinematics, rebound modeling, in-situ quality control and performance characterization.

• Shashikant Chaudhary - He is the India Managing Director at GlobalLogic. He is the CEO, President and Co-founder, Lambent Technologies Pvt. Ltd.

• Rajdeep Endow (Computer Science Engineering)- He is the Managing Director, India and Global Delivery Lead, SapientNitro.

1. Indrani Medhi (2002, Architecture)- Researcher in the Technology for Emerging Markets Group at Microsoft Research India (Bangalore).
2. Pradeep Kar (1981, Mechanical Engineering)- Founder, Chairman and MD of Microland. He founded Indya.com, a portal in India which was later sold to News Corporation.
3. Dr. Vijay Bhatkar (1965, Electrical Engineering)- He developed the first Indian supercomputer, Param 8000 in 1991. Later he developed Param 10000 in 1998.

He built the National Param Supercomputing Facility (NPSF). He was honored with Padma Shri in 2000. 

1. P.M. Telang (Mechanical Engineering)- MD (Retired)-India Operations,Tata Motors Ltd.
2. Hemant Karkare (1975, Mechanical Engineering)- Ex. Chief,Mumbai Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS). Prior to this, he served 7 years in Austria, in RAW. He was killed in action during the 2008 Mumbai attacks, and posthumously honored with the Ashoka Chakra on 26 January 2009.
3. Professor Samir Barua (Mechanical Engineering)- 10th Director of the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad.
