How is the electronics and communications program at IIT Bhubaneswar, with respect to the faculty and placements?

The first batch of Electronics and Communication Engineering students of IIT Bhubaneswar graduated in 2020. ECE placement at IIT Bhubaneswar has been quite good. However, the number of core companies visiting the campus placement was less compared to the software companies. Only 10% of the students received core placements. The rest of the batch got placed in software companies. Some of the major recruiters that visited the campus placement are Microsoft, Oyo, HSBC, Razorpay, etc. 

The faculties of Scool of Infrastructure (Civil) have good industrial experience. The professors are also quite helpful. 

The batch of the Electronics and Communication department at IIT Bhubaneswar will graduate in 2020, although 97% of the students have been placed with L&T, Tata Powers, and Texas Instruments, this year. The placement average package offered to students of the School of Electrical Science is 15 LPA.

It must be noted that the ECE program placement is still in progression till November 2020 because of Covid-19.

Admission Requirements

• IIT Bhubaneswar ECE department offers BTech, MTech, and Ph.D. programs after qualification of JEE-Advanced or GATE. Student requires 75% marks in 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics or Biology for BTech admissions.
• MTech aspirants have to submit an aggregate of 60% in graduation with GATE qualification.

Faculty:The Electrical Sciences department has 39 faculty members including guest visitations from Prof. Rabi N Mohapatra who was a Faculty Fellow at IBM T.J Watson Research Center, USA.

Placement:

• 160 undergraduate students from the School of Electrical Sciences received placement offers by PSUs like HPCL, IOCL, Oil India Limited; and MNC's like Goldman Sachs, GE India, Mahindra & Mahindra, and Infosys.
• The undergraduate placement rate is 87% and is still in progression.
• The highest CTC offered was INR 43.3 LPA.
• The MTech placement percentage has been 65% to date.
• 51% of students have been placed with core engineering companies.
• The ECE department is second in placement with a 97% rate. The Electrical Engineering department has a 100% placement rate.

The average salary offered in 2020 is INR 15.8 LPA, which is 34% more than 2019's INR 11 LPA.
