Which college should I choose between NMIMS Mumbai and IIFT Kolkata for MBA?

Now this answer depends on whether you have already made up your mind on the specialization you want to choose or not. If you have then these are the options –

Finance – Both NMIMS and IIFT Kolkata are pretty close and are known for their finance profiles. NMIMS Mumbai beats IIFT mainly due to its location in Mumbai and the job profiles it offers.

Marketing –

• NMIMS Mumbai has the location and more good profiles advantage.
• Marketing is opted by a large number of students.
• NMIMS Mumbai has nearly double the batch size of IIFT Kolkata which leads to more competition. Thus I would say IIFT makes a better choice.

Consulting/Strategy –

• It is the least popular specialization at IIFT and many good consulting firms also do not visit their campus.
• Although NMIMS Mumbai is also not very well known for it, still it will offer better opportunities than IIFT.

HR –

• NMIMS Mumbai has a separate HR program apart from the flagship MBA program.
• IIFT does not even offer HR as a specialization.
• Typically you should avoid doing HR from NMIMS Mumbai but among the two it is the only option.

Operations –

• IIFT is known for its operations profiles.
• NMIMS Mumbai is not even among the top 3 colleges in Mumbai for operations. So undoubtedly IIFT.

Now there are many who are still undecided about the specialization they want to pursue or are considering doing General Management. For them these all factors should matter more while choosing a college –

It is pretty difficult to actually choose one among the two as both are almost similar in many ways and have their own advantages. I am inclined towards NMIMS Mumbai a bit more but then anyone of the two is good and it will be your own choice.
