IIFT Kolkata selection criteria don’t assign specific weightage to past academics. The institute allows students with more than 60% marks (general category) to apply. However, having a good academic record will certainly elevate the chances of getting shortlisted. Students with mediocre academics and overall good profiles with different achievements and extracurricular activities, also have a good chance of getting a shortlist.

Yes, your past academic performance will be taken into consideration at IIFT Kolkata during the selection process, just like any other top B-School in India.

The points below give a brief overview of the selection process at IIFT Kolkata:

  • As per the usual cut-off, any general candidate above 60% overall marks is permitted to apply for IIFT. But academic scores do play an active role in the GD and PI who clear the CAT cut-off and get a call.
  • If you have mediocre academic scores overall, then you need to showcase a high level of achievements in any other field. Interviewers want an extraordinary potential to get a chance, especially in fields of extra-curricular activities. Only in this way, you can cover up for your low academic records in the past.

Through the above points, it is clear that academic results play a vital role in the interviews of IIFT.
