Does KIIT University have an entrepreneurship cell? Is it active?
According to my friends studying at KIIT, yes, the E-cell is definitely very active and you will have several benefits if you plan to be associated with the KIIT E-cell even if you do not wish to be an entrepreneur:
Internships:
- Every year, annual internship camps are hosted in March where about 30 to 50 different startups offer internships.
- You can appear for 3 to 5 of these and can even bag PPOs worth INR 8 to 10 lakhs.
Mentorship:
- Most students in their 20s look for mentorships.
- The E-cell is known to have a good network of mentors, be it for carriers or startups.
- Many of my friends have personally got good mentorships for their startups.
Diversity:
- The people in the cell are recruited from the School of Technology, School of Management, Biotech as well as Law.
- This helps you network with people from different domains.
- This will allow you to explore things from different perspectives.
Exposure:
- With the E-cell, you can get in touch with investors, startup founders as well as policy makers.
- You will learn a lot from their shared experiences.
Network and Team Building:
- At the E-cell, you will find a lot of like-minded individuals where you will be able to find a co-founder or a team of people to help you sort things out.
- With this network, you can even get in touch with prospective investors ready to fund your startup.
Skill building:
- You can even work for startups in your free time. This will help you build your skillset and resume.
- Individual attention is provided and many community learning programs are also available.
In conclusion, the E-cell is definitely useful at KIIT and will be helpful to you in many ways.
Why are more students coming to Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) university each year despite getting less help in terms of study materials and faculty?
Every student will have a different reason and it could be anything. It cannot be said for sure why more students are joining Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT), but we can at least come up with certain possibilities.
- KIIT offers ample study material to the students. The students are also interested enough to go through the books.
- The library provides both hard and soft copies of reading materials.
- Students enter a college hoping for a lot of things but ultimately realize it is not the college but their skills that will be given more importance.
- The faculty at this university is excellent and acts as facilitators.
- Reading and self-study will help you broaden your thinking and help you concentrate more to understand the concepts.
Concentrate on yourself and not on placement records, alumni network, or faculty. Prepare yourself to be skillful so that be it any college you graduate from, it is your work that will speak for you.
What is the highest package from KIIT in IT?
According to the recent highlights of KIIT placement, the maximum CTC offered for the IT branch goes up to INR 30-40 LPA. While the average CTC offered for the branch is around 5 LPA. Wipro, TCS, Byju’s, Deloitte, etc. are some of the major recruiters that visit the campus placements frequently.
How is KIIT compared to Sharda, LPU and Amity University?
KIIT is one of the top ten private engineering schools in the country. Sharda, LPU, and Amity, on the other hand, are in a different league entirely, competing for being the worst.
KIIT is an above-average college in the TIER-3 category, but it is far superior in every respect to these self-proclaimed "Best Institutes" that have extremely degraded in a lot of aspects.
What happens in the orientation programme in KIIT?
The orientation programme in KIIT is lengthy and the students are made to sit for 2 hours while the faculties and the honorable founder address them. But there are many students who are highly enthusiastic about this day too.
There are three kinds of orientation programs held at KIIT University. These are:
- Class Orientation: In this, the students are given a tour of their classrooms, made to fill necessary forms and an interactive session is witnessed between the teachers/mentors and the students.
- Student Orientation: In this, all the students are required to gather in the auditorium for the speeches of honorable guests and respected faculty. The Vice-Chancellor and The Dean address the students as well.
- Hostel Orientation: During this orientation, the students are handed out a list of rules to be obliged by them throughout their stay.
So these are the basic things I got to know from some of my friends studying at IIM Indore. The orientation could be interesting to some while it may feel hectic to others.
How are the placement and faculties in the KIIT? How is the studying environment in the KIIT?
KIIT University is a reputed institute with highly qualified and experienced faculties from various fields of study. The university is known for its academic rigor, emphasis on research, and focus on industry exposure. The studying environment is student-centric, with modern infrastructure, well-equipped laboratories, libraries, and other academic facilities. The university also provides various extracurricular activities, clubs, and events that promote overall development and help students achieve their goals.
Unofficial sources report the highest and average packages offered at KIIT are INR 62 LPA and INR 8.5 LPA respectively. Of the 2,800 BTech students, 2,600 have already been placed by top recruiters with 1,100 receiving multiple job offers.
Over 250 companies have participated and made 3,600 job offers with 82 companies offering an annual package of more than INR 10 LPA. Notably, 1,500 students were placed in dream companies with an offer of over INR 15 LPA, while 1,100 students received packages between INR 10 LPA and INR 15 LPA. Recruiters include Tata Power, Arcelor Mittal Nippon Steel, JSW Energy, JWIL Infra Limited, Stellantis, Accenture, Cognizant, TCS, etc.
Which is better: CS from KIIT or mechanical from Thapar University?
Having known some people studying in both these institutions, I can say that KIIT is promising and is getting better every year. Thapar is a well-known and much older institute. You can choose either by preferring the college or the branch.
- If you are interested in studying mechanical engineering then go to Thapar. It has good placements for Mechanical. The faculty department is also decent.
- If you are more inclined towards coding go for CSE from KIIT. It is a more practical-oriented subject.
- If the interests do not lie in either and you just want a B.Tech degree and want to pursue higher studies or MBA, then go for CSE as that is the easiest among all the others.
- It will be more practical-based learning, more industry-oriented and it has the best scope after graduation.

So you should decide your field of interest and what type of job or higher studies you would like to do and then opt for the branch that fits best for you.
What's the present scenario of placements in KIIT?
Here is a glimpse of the placement scenario at KIIT.
- The placements are pathetic here and the institute is only for the ones who are aimless and have no big dreams.
- The institute is a curse for big engineering dreams as it crushes all your passion.
- The profiles offered to the students are poor. Even big companies like Deloitte and MuSigma offer below-average roles like Quality Assurance and Tester
Although the T & P cell works hard here, it fails to bring its good profiles. I would suggest you do a Master's from a good college to bring a posting change in your career.
Which college is better: VIT Chennai or KIIT?
A few of my friends graduated from VIT Chennai and KIIT and here are some insight from their experience which may be of help.
KIIT will be a better choice just because it's the main campus, the placements are almost at par and you get more freedom to enjoy college life.
But VIT does have an edge over many things, and even if you go to VIT Chennai, the placement opportunities will be the same.

Which is better in terms of fees, studies, placements, food and hostels, KIIT or GITAM University?
KIIT is a better option in terms of fees, academics, placements, and hostel accommodation. The placement opportunities available are especially good for CSE, IT, and ETC branches. Many IT firms frequently visit KIIT placements and hire a huge number of students. During 2022 placement drive, students received an average CTC of around INR 6.05 LPA. Some of the major recruiters for the institute are Escorts, Capgemini, Accenture, Infosys, etc.
