You should only get those items that are essential and basic that you might require in the beginning. During Diwali, you will get a 10-day break after 3 to 4 months of classes beginning so you can think of getting more luggage than if required.
The campus is quite close to the main city and you can get all other basic necessities like mattresses, stationery, and other things easily. You can also shop online if you like.
But, mainly, you need to have a good smartphone and a laptop. If you don’t have a laptop at home, you should buy one before coming to college. If you don’t have that you can also buy a laptop here once you know which one you need. Buy it before Diwali though.
Lastly, you can also get some medicines that you need on a daily basis. This was all that most students bring on a regular basis.
I have a few friends who graduated from IIITM Gwalior. According to them, the college is quite good.
You will get the best campus experience and learning experience from this college.
One of my friends studying at IIITM Gwalior said that the startup culture there is actually better than most other technical colleges which give it an extra edge.

At IIITDM Gwalior, you will be eligible to appear for the GATE exams during the fourth year. If you end up qualifying, you will be allowed a stipend in your final year. If you want to pursue M.Tech from another institute, you can do so after completing the five-year B.Tech course.

In addition to this, you will also find a few non-residential Bengali from West Bengal studying in the college. You will find Bengalis from other parts of the country studying here. There are also few Bangali faculties at the campus.
Gwalior has its own Bengali community. Three to four Durga pujas are held around the city. Plus, you will have no problem finding non-vegetarian food in the city. My friend from the institute, who is a self-proclaimed foodie, also found few places in the city that sells fish.
