National Institute of Technology (NIT) Agartala has been ranked by the NIRF for its Engineering Program at No.75 out of 100. Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology (RGIPT) has been granted the status of Institute of National Importance. It is also ranked 134 for BTech by NIRF 2020. ABV Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management (IIITM, Gwalior) ranks at 100 for the BTech by NIRF 2020.

Admission: NIT Agartala, RGIPT, and IIITM Gwalior, all these institutes offer various programs in UG and PG levels. However, the popular courses at these institutes are BTech and MTech in different Engineering specializations.

NIT, Agartala-

• In order to get admitted to the B.Tech Program at NIT, the candidate must have passed 10+2 with Mathematics and Physics being the compulsory subjects along with the entrance exam score of JEE Main.

• For M.Tech admissions at NIT, the candidate must have a B.Tech Degree with an aggregate of 60% and selection will be done on the basis of GATE Scores.

RGIPT-

• In order to get admitted to the B.Tech Program at RGIPT, the candidate must have passed 10+2 with an aggregate of 60% along with the entrance exam score of JEE Advanced.

• For M.Tech admissions at RGIPT, the candidate must have a B.Tech Degree with an aggregate of 60% and selection will be done on the basis of GATE Scores.

IIITM, Gwalior-

• In order to get admitted to the B.Tech Program at IIITM, the candidate must have passed 10+2 with an aggregate of 75% along with the entrance exam score of JEE Main.

• For M.Tech admissions at IIITM, the candidate must have a B.Tech Degree and selection will be done on the basis of GATE Scores.

NIT, Agartala-

• The placement and internship opportunities at NIT are offered by the top recruiters from Amazon, Samsung, Tata, Indian Army, Infosys, Ashok Leyland, Vedanta, Axis, Tech Mahindra, etc.

• The highest salary package announced from NIT was 32 LPA.

• The average CTC offered is around 5 LPA.

RGIPT-

• The placement and internship opportunities at RGIPT are offered by the top recruiters from Indian Oil, Infosys, Tech Mahindra, Accenture, TCS, Reliance, ONGC MRPL, etc.

IIITM Gwalior-

• The highest salary package announced from IIITM was 40 LPA.

• In 2020 placements the average CTC received by the students is 14 LPA.

All three institutes are well-reputed and have their advantages and disadvantages. You should compare the institutes based on the specific course you want to pursue and choose that one offering the better program for that.

ABV-IIITM, Gwalior observes an overall placement rate of 85-90% across total students through the placement drive. It conducts placements every single year across Engineering, Business Development/Sales, Education and Information Technology, with the maximum number of placements taking place in the field of Engineering. Information Technology and Education sectors see a placement rate of 11% as opposed to Engineering, which is at 30%.

ABV IIITM Gwalior is ranked 81 by NIRF. It is recognized by UGC and AICTE. They have a student strength of 854 students. 

MTech in VLSI is a 2 year full time postgraduate course which involves engineering aspects of designing and developing IC based systems. The course is divided into 4 semesters.

Faculty

• There is the head of the department, with professors, associate professor, and assistant professors.

Students will require 75% in their 10+2 qualifying exam and 60% in their BTech or BE exam to be eligible for admission at ABV IIITM Gwalior for the MTech program in VLSI Design. Final selection will be based on GATE scores.

As per the MHRD norms, the students are offered stipends within the range of INR 7000-13000. Approximately, this year a total of 18% students received Pre-placement offers from various companies. Both colleges are well-reputed. IIIT Naya Raipur is ranked 75 for Engineering by JEE cutoff 2019. Whereas, IIITM Gwalior is ranked 100 for Engineering by NIRF 2020. While India Today has ranked it in the 21 position among the top engineering colleges.

Between IIIT Naya Raipur and IIITM Gwalior, the latter is a better option. IIITM ranks in the top 5 IIITs and offers better placements. However, you should compare the two institutes based on the program they deliver for the course you are interested in.

In 2019, NIRF ranked IIITDM #75th among top engineering colleges in India. whereas, ABV-IIITM Gwalior is ranked #100^th. Admission for the IPG program at IIITM Gwalior is done through JEE Main, while for CSE at IIITDM Jabalpur, one must secure 50% marks with Physics and Chemistry along with a valid score in JEE Main.

Admissions:

IIITM Gwalior

• Candidates must qualify JEE Main and participate through centralized counseling held by JoSAA.
• The total intakefor MTech is 119 and for IPG MBA, it is 69.
• The institute accepts online applications for which the applicants have to register via valid mail id and phone number. On registration, fill up the application form and pay the application fee. Attach the required documents and submit the form.
• To register for the relevant entrance exam, follow the same procedure as mentioned above.

IIITDM Jabalpur

• For admission in B.Tech CS, the applicant must have a valid score in JEE Main, however, for M.Tech, a score in GATE is scored.
• The application fee is INR 325.
• All qualifying examination documents will be accepted in PDF form only.
• The applications for admission are accepted through the official websites of GOAPS where the applicant has to register to create a new registration.

Placements:

IIITM Gwalior

• The placement record at IIITM is good, in 2019 the highest packages offered were 42 lakhs per annum, while 14 lakhs per annum was the average package value recorded.
• Industry giants such as Samsung, HCL, Dell, Tata consultancy services, WNS, etc. hire candidates from IIITM Gwalior.

IIITDM Jabalpur

• The students graduating from 2020 batch has already has received around 177 job offers which include 149 full-time offer and 28 pre-placement offers.
• Three students from the CSE department took the highest pay package of Rs 23 lakhs and 15 other students received offers close to paying packages of Rs 15-14 lakhs.
• Reliance Jio, Amazon, Microsoft, Samsung R&D, and 1mg was the giant corporate recruiters of the institute.

There are no particular scholarships available for students in IIITM Gwalior. Whereas, IIITDM Jabalpur provides many scholarships to the students based on their academic performance.

IIITM, Gwalior, and NIT, Silchar are well-known institutions and are accredited by both MHRD, Government of India, and AICTE. IIITM, Gwalior is ranked 100th out of 300 in India for BTech by NIRF. Whereas, NIT, Silchar is ranked 46th out of 300 in India for the same.

Both the institutes have their own set of pros and cons and one must compare both before choosing one.

Admission:

IIITM and NIT are excellent institutions and in order to choose an institute between the two, you should compare the two institutes based on the program they deliver for the course you are interested in. You should base your choice on other factors as well such as quality of academics and faculty, expectations from college life, etc.
