Do you think ISB Hyderabad charging 30+ Lakhs as fees for an MBA is justified given the fact that the institute is not approved by AICTE or UGC?

JS
Jigar Shah Posted On : February 7th, 2023
Studied at Indian School of Business (2018)

Before I share my sister's experience let me clarify something. Corporations do not care if the Institute you pursued MBA from is AICTE or UGC approved or not. They consider MBA degrees as diplomas and titles attached to the candidates for namesake only.

My sister wanted to become a professor at a university. In that light, she cleared NET and applied to DU. But they did not accept her as she did not have an MBA degree. They suggested she get one from a prestigious B School like IIM Ahmedabad. She right away changed her mind about becoming a university professor. So from her experience, we can derive the following conclusions

  • Even the top IIMs don’t grant degrees but diplomas. The fact that they are AICTE-approved or not rarely matters. It’s just the name of the Institute that matters.
  • If you are inclined towards a profession that requires a degree or recognition from top B schools like IIMA, only then the degree and the institute's worth become important. Most recruiters don’t care if the institutes are recognized by AICTE or UGC or not.

So look at other factors while considering if the high fees are worth it or not rather than the Institute’s accreditation.

Does ISB Hyderabad accept GRE scores?

RS
Raman Singhal Posted On : March 8th, 2021
Studied PGP from Indian School of Business (2017)

Earlier, they used to accept only GMAT scores. But, recently, it has been announced to accept GRE scores as well. It is a section-adaptive test which means the difficulty level of sections depends on your performance within the first sections completed by you.

The course structure and test format for both GMAT and GRE largely differ for both these exams. So, if you're preparing for admission to ISB, it's better to research every factor carefully to make sure a far better selection. They don’t have an official cutoff or minimum eligible score for GRE. However, a score of 310 and above will offer you greater chances of getting an interview call from ISB. Considering the competition nowadays, the higher the score, the better.

We can conclude, on a general basis, that the average GRE score for ISB is 324. In the year 2019, the eligible range for the GRE scores was 311-335 while the average GRE score was 326. Looking at the typical GRE score, the bar for admission is pretty high at ISB. Applicants will need some solid amount of GRE preparation to crack the typical score of 324 at ISB.

You could just research about it a bit on Google and get to know about the previous records for GRE ISB admissions.

How ISB Hyderabad is different from ISB Mohali?

VS
Varun Sharma Posted On : February 7th, 2023
PGP, Class of 2016 - Indian School of Business

My brother has had an experience with both campuses and claims that both colleges are unique in their own aspects. Some major differences between the two campuses are

  • The Mohali campus has better infrastructure owing to its recent construction. It’s decked with modern world-class facilities and is more advanced in comparison to the Hyderabad campus.
  • The Mohali campus is located in North and has better food varieties
  • The batch size is small at the Mohali campus thereby reducing the competition tremendously.
  • Sometimes the faculty for the same courses is different across the two campuses owing to their availability and other external factors.
  • The Mohali campus has a more relaxed atmosphere than the Hyderabad campus as it is near Chandigarh. Hyderabad campus is always bustling due to the presence of a larger workforce, and colleges.

Rather than choosing the campus, make the best out of whatever is available to you.

For a 3 year experienced female professional, which is a better suited option for me- 1 year program at ISB or 2 years PGP program at IIM Bangalore?

PP
Pablo Patranobish Posted On : July 27th, 2021
Studied at Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (2018)

According to the profile you mentioned, there is no specific edge that you will have in either of the two institutes, IIM Bangalore and ISB Hyderabad.

  • Usually, there is huge academic pressure in IIM Bangalore. IIM B also has a better peer group, so you will face more competition at the institute. But, it is up to you how you will handle the pressure.
  • In terms of choices offered in placement, IIM Bangalore offers a much wider span of choices after the degree. IIM students get the chance to change industries and try on different roles in the industry too.
  • The 1-year executive program offered by ISB Hyderabad will be somewhat more sensitive for you, taking seniority into account. But, ISB placements are somewhat lateral in nature. Also, ISB usually offers better roles to seniors with work experience of 5 years or more.

Both IIM Bangalore and ISB Hyderabad have their own advantages, which are not that dependent on the factors mentioned in the question. So, both are excellent options and you can choose either of them based on the factors listed above.

At ISB, do you get to select the campus between Hyderabad and Mohali?

YA
Yash Arora Posted On : February 14th, 2023
MBA in Business, Indian School of Business (Graduated 2018)

When applying to ISB, you will not have the option to choose between the campuses in Hyderabad or Mohali. Instead, you will have the opportunity to indicate your campus preference during the application process, but it should be noted that ISB may or may not take this into consideration. This is done in order to maintain equality between the two campuses so that neither campus students feel like they are at a disadvantage.

While in rare cases, ISB may take your specific location preference into consideration, it is highly unlikely. It should be noted that even in cases where requests for campus change have been made for reasons such as family or health, ISB has denied such requests. This is a reflection of the diverse student body that ISB attracts.
