I have an option to choose from GMC/GSMC, Mumbai and KGMU lucknow for MBBS. Which college should I opt for?

AG

I will try to answer this query as per my limited knowledge.

As for GMC, its teaching standards have declined. The classes aren’t as rich as in previous times. Even the study culture isn’t as good now. Only the brand name remains. Because of this, GSMC is currently much better ranked than GMC. So if you are from Lucknow, choose KGMU over GMC Mumbai. MBBS is quite stressful, and homely support does a lot for mental health.

Both GSMC and KGMU are good medical colleges. Choosing between these is a bit difficult. Research on the condition of PG reservation at Maharashtra colleges, and Provincial Health Services (PHS) rule in UP. This will help you make a better decision.

Both GSMC Mumbai and KGMU are excellent choices.Choose between the two based on various factors that I have listed above.

Where should I go for pursuing MBBS PGIMS Rohtak or NDMC Delhi Hindu Rao Hospital?

AB

If you are a medical student looking to pursue a postgraduate degree, it's important to consider your options carefully. One option you may have heard of is the PGI Rohtak, which is a well-known medical institution. However, there is another option that you should strongly consider: Hindu Rao Hospital in Delhi.

Here are some reasons why you should choose Hindu Rao over PGI Rohtak:

  • Hindu Rao Hospital has reserved seats for postgraduate degree programs, which means that you are more likely to get a spot in your desired program.
  • By staying in Delhi, you will have access to a large and competitive healthcare market. This will help you acquire skills that even students from reputed institutions like KGMC, Stanley Medical College, and Madras Medical College may not have.
  • Delhi is the capital of India and has a thriving medical community. You will have opportunities to attend conferences, workshops, and other events that can help you stay up-to-date with the latest medical research and techniques.
  • Living in Delhi will also expose you to a diverse range of patients, which will help you develop your clinical skills and empathy.
  • Finally, staying in Delhi will allow you to stay close to your family and friends, which can be an important source of support during the stressful period of medical school.

In summary, while PGI Rohtak is certainly a reputable institution, Hindu Rao Hospital in Delhi offers many advantages that you should consider. By choosing to study in Delhi, you can acquire skills and experiences that will help you stand out in the competitive medical market.

Is CMC Ludhiana a better option for a MBBS?

Namrata Das Posted On : September 25th, 2023

A close friend of mine studies at CMC Ludhiana and gave me insight into the actual scenario of academics there.

  • The academic environment may not be the best but it certainly is decent. You will have professors poking you to study hard, guide you, and keep track of your progress.
  •  The institute has a very poor infrastructure that hinders the classroom experience to a certain extent.
  • The institute has a decent number of co-curricular and extra-curricular activities and organizes a musical theatre every year.
  • CMC Ludhiana fees are extremely high around INR 6.6 for the first year which keeps increasing. It may not seem worth it.
  • The hostel facilities are also average although better than many government colleges.

Overall, if your only goal is to study and become a good doctor, CMC Ludhiana is a decent choice for sure but if you also want a dynamic college life then I will suggest considering other options.

What are the MBBS cutoff marks for ST students in NEIGRIHMS?

AB
Aritra Biswas Posted On : September 30th, 2023
MBBS from North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences

No seats are reserved for ST candidates in AIQ and NEIGRIHMS Open for NE State and Sikkim permanent residents.

The AIQ cutoff goes high. As per trend, it stands at around 540-550+. The cutoff for the NEIGRIHMS Open stands at around 460-480+.

I am listing down the seats reserved for ST students with prc of these states-

  1. Arunachal Pradesh- 4 (depends on state merit lists)
  2. Mizoram- 3 (depends on state merit lists)
  3. Nagaland-8 (depends on state merit lists)
  4. Meghalaya-9 (depends on state merit lists)

I have given you a general idea as I don’t have the exact figures.

I have a few friends who attended NEIGRIHMS. Their time at the institute has been quite good. It is a central Govt. medical college. There is also a hospital near the campus. The institute offers decent academics with good patient flow and cases.

For an MBBS, NEIGRIHMS can be a decent option.

How do I get into CMC Vellore for an MBBS?

Muskan Shafi Posted On : March 30th, 2024

Admission to MBBS at CMC Vellore is solely based on the score obtained by the candidates in NEET UG. CMC Vellore has two quotas for MBBS admission namely Government Quota (50%) and Management Quota (50%).

CMC Vellore MBBS Management Quota

50% of the MBBS seats at CMC Vellore will be filled up by the management based on NEET UG scores under three broad categories:

  • Open Category: Any candidates who meet the eligibility criteria can apply under this category based on merit.
  • Minority Network: Eligible Christian students can apply for MBBS under this category.
  • CMC Vellore Staff Quota: Children of eligible members of the staff of CMC Vellore can apply under this category.

CMC Vellore MBBS Government Quota

50% of the remaining MBBS seats will be filled by the State Government based on NEET UG scores in the given manner:

  • 30% of the seats will be filled by the State Government based on NEET UG as per the government reservation policy.
  • 20% of the seats will be for the candidates belonging to the Christian minority from the state strictly by the NEET merit list.

Candidates under both categories have to first register for CMC Vellore MBBS admissions on its official website during the stipulated registration period. Once the NEET Results are announced, the candidates have to sign in to the registration portal and submit their NEET roll number, score, and All India rank.

All the candidates applying for CMC Vellore MBBS have to then mandatorily apply for counseling by the Tamil Nadu Selection Committee, Directorate of Medical Education. Only those candidates whose names will appear in the seat allotment lists released by the selection committee will be offered admission to MBBS at CMC Vellore.

Are repeaters eligible for gold medals in MBBS rguhs?

RT
Rajat Tokas Posted On : March 10th, 2023
Former Student

Only regular students are eligible to receive a gold medal for achieving the highest marks in a particular subject or for the highest score in an academic year. Repeaters, unfortunately, are not eligible for this recognition.

However, this doesn't mean that repeaters should feel discouraged or disheartened. There are other ways to excel academically and achieve success. By focusing on your studies and consistently putting in the effort, you can still achieve your academic goals and earn good grades.

It's important to remember that success is not just measured by awards or recognition, but also by personal growth and improvement. So, don't give up on your academic pursuits and continue to work hard towards achieving your goals. With dedication and perseverance, anything is possible.

Here are some good tips for the final MBBS MUHS practical exams

  • Attend the postings regularly
  • Read the practical manua daily. Go for Indian manuals like Allagappan, Kundu, and Golawalla instead of going for the Hutchison manual as they cover Indian cases better.
  • Always adopt a humble attitude towards academics.
  • Maintain good relations with your teachers because they will be the ones giving you internal marks.
  • You need a high dedication and determination level for postings.
  • If you have got 45 days posting try to cover practical material as well as try maximum theory topics too.
  • Don't just mug up the concepts, but understand them well too.

Hope this helps you!
