Which is better among BIT Mesra, IIEST or NIT Rourkela?
IIEST Shibpur now enjoys the status of being an "Institute of National Importance" status with 160 years of Glorious Record of Producing "World Leaders in Engineering" and is nowhere near colleges like BIT Mesra and NIT Rourkela. The primary purpose behind the establishment of this institute was to combine IIT and IISc into a single body. It receives a high budget at par with most IITs and is a great choice for engineering aspirants.
The institute has successful alumni working in various fields across the globe. Some of them include Dr. Bimal K Bose USA World Leader in Power Electronics, Dr. Fazlur Rahman Khan World's Greatest Structural Engineer Designer of the Tallest Tower in the USA, and Dr. Kajal Gupta Chief Technologist NASA USA. The institutes connect spreads across the globe and IIEST Shibpur has Chapters in the USA, London UK, Canada, Australia, Singapore, Europe, the Middle East, etc.

JU is the best option among IIIT Delhi and IIEST for CSE. Although JU is way better than IIEST in CSE placements, it is slightly behind IIIT Delhi. IIIT-D has slightly better CSE placements. But JU offers an excellent ROI which makes it the most favourable option among these colleges. Moreover, its faculty is highly experienced and learned with many Ph.D. holders in just a single department. Here are some other reasons why you should consider joining JU

The weekends at IIEST Shibpur are different because there are not any classes. Everybody gets a much longer time to try to do the thing they enjoy doing.
A friend of mine used to spend the entire weekend playing Counter-strike or FIFA. Many others also catch up on sleep.
Except for Monday lab report submissions or exams within the Monday morning slot, students usually play, chat, watch movies, enjoy or do whatever gives them satisfaction during the weekend. This spares the weekends that involve INSTRUO or REBECA because the whole student community revels in these two events during that point. Apart from these two festivals, there is no uniformity within the best things that one can do on weekends while studying at IIEST Shibpur. Students just do whatever they enjoy doing which they keep on doing on weekdays too, but just for a slightly longer period.
What is the placement scenario of mechanical department in IIEST Shibpur?
Mechanical is one of the oldest departments of IIEST Shibpur.It is well known for its internship and placement records.
A good number of mechanical students grab core jobs during the placement season. Last year, 61 out of 75 eligible students were successfully placed from B.Tech mechanical.

IIEST Shibpur offers great exposure in terms of academics as well as extra-curricular activities along with the interactive clubs and fun happening fests. It comes under the Government of India and is one of the NIT.
However, Aerospace Engineering is not a trending branch anymore and it was in the limelight a decade ago. To open up more opportunities, you will be required to pursue a Master’s or prepare for the competitive exams to get a decent job.
ECE at Heritage Institute is more prominent but being a private college, it is not up to the mark as compared to Aerospace Engineering. The placement opportunities at HIT are not good. Therefore, all you can do is to opt for IIEST, get a decent aggregate, and change the branch from Aerospace to ECE in the second year.

- Apart from the fun and frolic that takes place, there are certain rules and regulations that everyone has to follow.
- There is a time for every student that they cannot go outside campus after 10 pm and girls have to report to their hostel by 11 pm.

IIEST Shibpur ranks behind the top NITs such as NIT Trichy, NIT Warangal, and NIT Suratkal. It ranks higher than the other NITs and IIITs. It is behind IITs. But the difference in ranking between IIEST and IITs will decrease soon, owing to the excellent research work of the institute.
What happens in cultural fest REBECA in IIEST, Shibpur?
Reunion and Bengal Engineering College Annuals is an annual cultural fest of IIEST Shibpur. It is in general the oldest cultural fest in the entire country. These are those 4 days that every individual looks forward to in their educational career. It was held for the 82nd time in 2019.
The detailed highlights of the fest are as follows:

- Day 2: Beings Night
- Day 3: Kolkata Night
- Day 4: Mumbai Night
The fest holds various events for musicians/events. It also consists of seminars, alumni business meet, band competition, group dance face off and literary competitions. Can I avail any scholarship in IIEST Shibpur in the 2nd year based on the first-year results?
Yes, students can avail themselves of the scholarships. The college provides some amount to the toppers of each branch based on their ranks(CGPA) under the scholarship from GAABESU(Global Alumni Association of Bengal Engineering and Science University) office. Merit-Based Scholarship is given to departmental toppers for subsequent years too.
Not only for the toppers, but scholarships based on the financial status is also provided by the college to help such student. Also, Book-grants are available which helps you get books for every semester. You can avail of these scholarships from the GAABESU office on the campus.

Which is a better option IT at IIEST Shibpur or CSE at IEM?
Being a central university and highly popular national university of importance, IIEST Shibpur not only attracts the best faculty from across the country but also receives funding from the central government on a yearly basis which helps the university maintain its infrastructure, upgrade to the latest trends in the world and better their services. IEM is a private university with a NIRF ranking of 191 in 2020.

- Crowd: IIEST attracts students from all across the country due to its national importance and is the second oldest engineering college in India. IEM on the other hand being a private university does not see diversity among students and is not very popular as compared to IIEST.
- Campus: The infrastructure of both colleges are very different from each other. IIEST is known for its beautiful huge academic buildings, library, sports complex, and research labs. IEM, on the other hand, has a relatively small campus that offers hostel facilities, a cafeteria, a library, and an auditorium.
- Alumni: The alumni network at IIEST is unbeatable with world leaders like Dr. Bimal Bose, Leader in Power Electronics, and Dr. Kajal Gupta, Chief Technologist at NASA. IEM does not have a notable list of alumni considering it is not very popular amongst the masses.
Hence, if students have a good JEE score and are eligible to get into IIEST, it would be advisable to do so instead of choosing a private institution such as IEM- based on the factors mentioned above.
