Which should I choose, MNNIT Allahabad, MNIT Jaipur or PEC Chandigarh for CSE if home state is not a problem?
MNNIT Allahabad has recently placed more than 2000 students in top companies like HP, HCL, Adobe and Oracle. Out of 167 students 163 were placed from the CSE department.
MNIT Jaipur is approved by AICTE and MHRD. It is funded by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD).
PEC Chandigarh is one of the pioneer engineering institutes in Punjab ranking 68th among the top engineering colleges as per NIRF ranking 2020.
Admission process:-
MNNIT Allahabad
- The candidates must secure a minimum of 75% marks in 10+2 in the science stream and a valid score in the JEE Main exam.
- The cutoff required is 1269 - 3101.
- The course fee required is INR 84,667.
- The seats allocated are 30.
MNIT Jaipur
- The candidates must have a 10+2 degree with a minimum of 75% marks with valid score in JEE Main followed by CSAB counselling.
- The cutoff required is 2103 - 3938.
- The course fee required is INR 93,568.
- The total seats allocated is 93.
PEC Chandigarh
- The candidates must have a minimum of 75% marks in 10+2 with PCM and valid score in JEE Main.
- The cutoff required is 3282 - 7074.
- The total seats allocated is 37 per department.
- The course fee required is INR 96,750.
Placements:
- MNNIT Allahabad saw the participation of 1174 students in the campus drive of 2019 and out of which 792 students got jobs.
- MNIT Jaipur maintains an excellent placement record every year. A total of 417 students have been placed from both the UG and PG programs. Around 160+ companies visited the campus in 2019.
- PEC Chandigarh provides 100% placement for CSE and ECE students, while approximately 90% placement for civil, mechanical and electrical departments every year.

Which is the best NIT for an MTech in CSE, NIT Patna, NIT Goa, NIT Agartala, NIT Hamirpur, NIT Jaipur or NIT Manipur?
I will always suggest you give preference to the branch over the college. NIT Jalandhar and NIT Raipur are better colleges for CSE than NIT Patna and NIT Silchar. Another good option is ECE at NIT Allahabad or NIT Calicut as most of the companies let ECE students sit for software engineering roles during placements.
I am strongly against you joining mechanical engineering if you are already getting CSE/IT/ECE at NITs. Ultimately, it’s your preferences that will help choose the best college!
Is MNIT better than VJTI Mumbai?
VJTI is an AICTE approved institute whereas MNIT is an AICTE, as well as MHRD, approved college. Further, in order to establish which institute is better various aspects like rankings, placements, eligibility, and fees including the courses offered. Which is better CSE at MNNIT Allahabad or CSE at MNIT Jaipur in terms of placement, infrastructure, environment and faculty?
Both are really good colleges. They are considered as the top 2 NITs of North India.
In CSE, a lot depends on your individual efforts.
- Faculty- Both the colleges have good and average teachers.
- Exposure- In terms of exposure, Jaipur takes a slight lead over Allahabad. It is a capital city with an international airport. Its location makes Jaipur a more favorable place for HRs to visit.
- Infrastructure- MNIT has a better infrastructure. It offers single hostel rooms to second year students. Its campus is spread over 300 acres, and VLTC is the largest lecture hall complex in Asia. There isn’t much strictness for freshers. MNNIT is spread over 220 acres, but its hostels are in a poor condition. Even second year students are expected to live in four seater rooms. The authorities are strict towards freshers till the fresher party.
- Placements- In terms of placements, MNNIT has a slight edge over MNIT Jaipur. This year, 94.47% B.Tech CS students were successfully placed from MNNIT Allahabad. The average package for them was 27.57 LPA, and the highest package was 1.35 CPA.
Both the colleges are better in one or the other aspect. You should choose the one that best suits your personal preferences.

Students mix with each other as friends, without knowing each other’s origin, which is the best part of being in such institutes. So, there is no point of insecurity for NRI students on these campuses.
Therefore, MNNIT Allahabad is the best choice if you are interested in computer science and engineering. The four years in B.Tech are worth exploring in this institute, with no tension of placement in CSE.
