I have a friend who studies in the ECE branch at NIT Warangal. I will break down his overall experience into simpler aspects
Academics: The curriculum and academic life at NIT Warangal for ECE students is a bit more challenging than others. Some semesters have too many courses and it’s difficult to get free time. The grades are given a lot of importance and students face tough competition. Also, the faculty is not very approachable.

NIT Warangal ECE is a great choice in terms of job and academic opportunities. So try to maintain a good GP to avail the maximum benefits.
Some of the facts are listed below to help you understand which one is better in taking admission.
In the following, the placement statistics of these two institutes are highlighted.

If you have not so many ideas about the stream and do not aware of the institutional tag; then it is better to choose E&TC in DAVV. Besides, if you are considering these two institutes, then both are quite similar in terms of academics. However, E&TC also has many other fields in the future, so that the job opportunity might be expanded. Hence, it will be best to go for E&TC over EI.
Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, Patiala, established in 1956 is ranked 29th by NIRF, amongst the top engineering colleges in India. Keeping in view the increasing demand for the skills in electronics and computer science, Thapar introduced the Electronics and Computer Engineering branch a few years back in association with Trinity College, Dublin.
Course Structure:
Course Fee:
The fees for the electrical and computer engineering course is 15 lakhs and the total student intake in this course is 180.
Placements:
ECE has more job opportunities than Mechanical Engineering. After completing Mechanical Engineering, you will get jobs in PSUs, in government organizations.
In the following table, you will get basic information about Mechanical at NIT Calicut and ECE at NIT Jamshedpur.
Category | NIT Jamshedpur ECE | NIT Calicut Mechanical |
Fees | INR 1.88 Lakh (1st Year) | INR 1.25 Lakh |
Recruiters | Amazon, Unacademy, Global Logic, Humming Wave, etc. | Cognizant, Samsung, Accolite, Aditya Birla Capital, etc. |
Average CTC | INR 4.5 LPA | INR. 7.40 LPA |
Lowest CTC | INR 3.5 LPA | INR 5 LPA |
Highest CTC | INR 37 LPA | INR. 43.17 LPA |
Therefore, both Mechanical at NIT Calicut and ECE at NIT Jamshedpur are good options. It all depends on which field you want to make your career. ECE will be the right choice if you want to be a part of the corporate sector after completing B.Tech or M.Tech.
I am assuming you have no specific interests and are looking for a branch that offers good job opportunities. In that case, Maths and Computing at IIT Guwahati is best. With the unique blend of Mathematical concepts and CS concepts, this program has become one of the most coveted ones only second to CSE. Indeed, MnC has an immense workload and is considered difficult but so is ECE. However, if you are not interested in Maths at all, and are a research enthusiast, Electronics is better than MnC. Electronics will give you an opportunity to explore both IT and hardware industries. However, it’s very difficult to secure internships in CE than MnC and this might demotivate you a bit.
Concludingly I would like to comment that MnC is a good option in the short run while ECE will prove to be beneficial in the long run.
The ECE department at IET Lucknow is not very impressive for pursuing higher education.
You can check out the details of the placement of the institute in the table down below:
Categories | ECE at IET Lucknow |
Course Fee | 3.44 lakhs |
Highest CTC | 25 LPA |
Average CTC | 12-16 LPA |
Lowest CTC | 5 LPA |
Recruiting Companies | TCS, DE Shaw, Barclays, Code Nation, etc. |
I would suggest that you go for ECE at IET and then start preparing for competitive examinations and opt for GATE or CAT. For more details about the institute, do navigate through the official website of the college.
The question is highly illogical as no branches are comparable, rather it’s a matter of preferences. You can say that placements of CSE are better than ECE but to say that to the entire branch would be making a false claim.
In any engineering institute you will find the average packages of the CSE branch higher than other branches but does this mean the other branches are not as good? The answer is no. The placements are directly affected by the demand in industry and it has nothing to do with the credibility of the branch. If you are genuinely interested in ECE, then CSE won’t be a good choice for you irrespective of how lucrative the package you are offered. So it’s a subjective matter.
People tend to adopt the sheep mentality and flock to CSE just because everyone is doing so and fail to analyze their own passions and interests. The increasing size of packages and international offers has resulted in a preconceived notion that CSE is better. In reality, both ECE and CSE branches are equally good with equally good opportunities, faculties, and education.
So it’s advisable to make the decision without any preconceived notions.
One of my friends had been in the very first batch of B.E Electronics and Computer branch. I might be able to share some facts about the college and the course which can be useful.
If the students are not a big fan of coding cultures that the CS branch usually offers nor good at ECE setups then they would not regret getting into this branch. In the end, the placement will only be availed by the students with their hard work and efforts.
If you think that you can work under technical giants later in years of study, then you should go for VIT. However, if you want to pursue your field of interest, and choose a likewise job scenario, then undoubtedly, you should enroll in IIIT Guwahati.
There are various differences between both the institutes for B.Tech ECE. Let’s walk through most of them:
Approaches of VIT:
The following table shows the placement statistics of both institutions:

Approaches of IIITG:
VIT is a reputed institute that is known to get you a job in the placement. If you’re willing to enter the job sector soon, join VIT.
One of my friends is an alumnus of Malla Reddy. He passed out recently and according to him the management fees for ECE were 8 lakhs.
He advises joining Malla Reddy college if you are really passionate about engineering, because the image of doing engineering that is imprinted on our mind from society, media and movies is not 100% true. Engineering days are not as happy or relaxed as it is portrayed. If you have a good percentage till 4th year you will be placed in IT companies for tech support, system management, or admin-related posts and if you are not placed then they will send you to amazon or uber BPO jobs interviews in college.
So, the institute if you are genuinely interested in engineering. As you can simply get placed in tech support jobs in Dell, Amazon, Wipro, Tech Mahindra, etc. through walk-in interviews. So, don’t waste your parent’s money or your precious 4 years unless you are sure.
