Is IIIT Hyderabad CSE as good as IIT Kharagpur CSE?
CSE department of both IIT Kharagpur and IIT Hyderabad is top notch offering the best coursework and coding culture.
But here’s the thing about CSE, it consists only of coding. In case you later find out that you are not really interested in it, joining IIT Hyderabad might prove to be a wrong decision. On the other hand, IIT KGP has many branches to choose from and also has noncore companies for Finance companies visiting the campus. Candidates applying for the IIT Kharagpur M.Tech program must appear for the GATE examination followed by COAP counseling. Candidates acquiring the set cutoff scores will be eligible to participate in the counseling session. Once the candidate gets into IIT Kharagpur through counseling, the institute then conducts interview rounds for the final selections.
Weightage in the IIT Kharagpur MTech selection process is
- 70% (GATE score)
- 30% (Interview) round.

How is the placement of an MTech (EE) at IIT Kharagpur?

Based on her experience, the maximum questions were based on her research work only so you need to prepare well in the same.
Is IIT Kharagpur good for CS or any other branch?
Although Kanpur, Bombay, and Kharagpur three are excellent Engineering institutes, it's IIT Kharagpur that steals the show with NIRF ranking of 5.
The director of IIT Kharagpur itself is the ex-HOD of the CS department and thus cares much about the department. Most of my friends and seniors from the CS department are in awe of the experience they had in their branch at IIT KGP.

I would any day recommend you to join IIT Kharagpur as it is the oldest IIT and well established today. Here are some strong points that might convince you to join IIT Kharagpur:

Except for CS and ECE, all the other branches get similar treatments during the open to all placements of IIT KGP.
What are the eligibility criteria for a PhD at IIT Kharagpur?
The major criteria for admission to the Ph.D. program at IIT Kharagpur are mentioned below:
- A minimum of 60% marks or a CGPA of 6.5 on a 10-point scale in the qualifying degree in Engineering /Science /Commerce /Management/ Law and/or equivalent

- A minimum of 55% marks or a CGPA of 6.0 on a 10-point scale in the qualifying degree in Humanities/Social Science/MBBS degree

- A degree equivalent to any of the above

- B.Tech./ BE / B.Sc (Engg.)

- MBBS degree with a compulsory one-year internship

The final selection to the Ph.D. program is done on the basis of a Department-Based Test followed by Academic Performance and Work Experience and an Interview.
GATE/ NET/ CSIR/ UGC or SLET-qualified candidates are also eligible for admission. The admission panel m also considers the candidates’ Academic records and Interview Performance while giving out the final merit list.
Is that true that Electrical Department at IIT Kharagpur is very difficult for Phd student?

- VLSI from E and ECE department
- Visual Information and Embedded Systems
- Telecommunication Engineering
- RF
- Wireless communication and Networks
- Embedded control and software
Wireless communication and Networks specialization was recently initiated at IIT KGP. The curriculum and faculty are said to be good based on reviews from students.
VIPES and ATDC specializations are related to software while ATDC has Embedded systems. The rest of the specializations are similar to that provided at other IITs.
The preferable order is as follows -
VLSI, VIPES, Telecom>RF>ATDC>Wireless communication and Networks
As far as placements are concerned, VLSI, VIPES, and Telecom have the best placements.
