RS
Rahul Sharma Posted On : January 25th, 2022
MBA Marketing, SVKM's NMIMS (2016)

Here are the steps that you need to follow after receiving your NMAT score.

  • Register and apply for the CD/PI process online. You will have to submit an SOP along with your application. You also need to pay a small fee.
  • You will receive the date on which the CD/PI is organized at the Mumbai campus, shortly after your application is done.
  • Students are divided into small groups for the CD. The topic of CD varies depending on the group. CD usually takes around one hour.
  • After the CD is done you will have to wait for the PI round. The PI round usually takes 20-30 mins. In the PI, they usually ask questions like why MBA, why NMIMS, your achievements, etc.
  • The results are declared within 20 days. You will get to know your final rank and whether or not you got selected.

How do I apply for the management quota in NMIMS for a BBA?

RM
Rishab Mittal Posted On : May 26th, 2021
BBA Business Management & Marketing, SVKM’s NMIMS (2016)

There is no direct option for entry into NMIMS for a BBA through management quota. There are no such forms or applications released by the institute for such cases. But, there are other options that may lead to such an entry into NMIMS. The points below are a brief overview of how a student can get a management quota seat in NMIMS.

Generally, students clear NMAT-UG to get a seat in institutes like NMIMS for a BBA degree. But, there are some entries through the management quota too.

  • For a management quota seat, you need a recommendation from trustees. You can get in touch with someone from the SVKM board.
  • For a management quota seat in BBA, NMIMS may charge around Rs. 10 Lac donation, which is a huge amount.
  • Such an amount is not worth the BBA degree. You should try for some other institute, or prepare for NMAT next year.

Therefore, it is possible to get a management quota seat in NMIMS, but in an indirect way, and with a great expense.

What are the chances of converting NMIMS Mumbai call?

RP
Rohit Pandey Posted On : February 28th, 2023
MBA from SVKM's NMIMS (Graduated 2018)

Compared to other entrance exams, NMAT is a relatively easier one. But because most students that sit for NMAT want to get into NMIMS so the competition is tough. So just getting across the cutoff is not sufficient, you need to aim for the highest.

The other aspects of the admission process through NMAT include

  • NMAT score
  • Personal Interview
  • Case Discussion
  • Academic record
  • Work Experience
  • Academic/Gender diversity

One needs to keep certain points regarding NMAT in mind. Firstly an excellent score does not guarantee admission. You have to ace the CD and PI rounds as well. But overall the chances of conversion are high due to high intake provided that you perform well in CD and PI. Separate rounds of CD and PI are held for Core and HRM. Also, NMIMS has a 30% reservation for girls.

Some tips that will increase your chances of conversion to NMIMS are

SOP: Your Statement of Purpose should clearly state why MBA, that too from NMIMS. It should state valid reasons as to why you should be selected over other students by mentioning your unique traits.

Case Discussion: The Case Discussion round is more to analyze your personality than your knowledge. So follow the rules throughout and give 2-3 solid points and give others an equal opportunity. Don't validate your opinion rudely at all.

Personal Interview: The interview is usually conducted by 3 panelists. If you have work experience, you will be questioned regarding that. For instance your role in your previous company and achievements. They will also question your goals after your MBA and which industry you have chosen and why. To stay on the safer side, be well-versed in current affairs. Also, don’t lose your calm at any given moment.

How was your NMIMS interview experience?

KR
Kritika Roy Posted On : January 25th, 2022
MBA from Indian Institute of Management, Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, India

A few years back, one of my friends appeared in the NMIMS interview. His overall experience was good. Here is his experience in brief.

After document verification, the first round was the case study. But my friend was given a topic about Net neutrality and Fair pricing. But there was no case written on the sheet of paper. Except for only one of the students from their group, no one had much information about the topic. In the interview, he was asked about his SOP, his family business, etc.

Will it be an absolutely horrible decision to choose IIM Kashipur over NMIMS Mumbai just for the IIM tag?

SB
Shoumik Bose Posted On : January 5th, 2023
Studied at Indian Institute of Information Technology, Sri City (IIITS)

Rather than judging your decision, I will list down some merits of both colleges and leave the rest for you to choose from.

Reasons why one should choose IIM Kashipur over NMIMS:

  • Smaller Batch-size: IIM Kashipur has a relatively smaller batch size than NMIMS. This means the placement opportunities will be better and attention given to each student will be more.
  • Lower fees: Mumbai fees are around 21 lakhs for two years. Also, it does not include the accommodation and food expenses that a person will have in the two years. The minimum expenses in a city like Mumbai will stand at 20000. The total fee is much higher than IIM Kashipur ( INR 1730000).
  • Specializes in Operations: The leading domain of IIM Kashipur is operations whereas NMIMS has limited scope for the same.

Reasons why one should join NMIMS:

  • Better opportunities in terms of companies, packages, and roles than any other new IIM
  • Better location than the new IIMs
  • Strong alumni base

So if you are confident that you can remain among the top 200 go for NMIMS, else IIM Kashipur it is.

Which one is better: Narsee Monjee College of Commerce and Economics or Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies for B.Com (hons)? Why?

NS
Nikita Sinha Posted On : July 23rd, 2022
Lives in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India

Narsee Monjee College of Commerce and Economics is better for pursuing a B.Com (Hons.). It is older and well-reputed. The commerce faculty of the college is excellent. NMIMS is primarily a B-School and offers a good MBA degree. But it started offering undergraduate degrees recently.

Narsee Monjee B.Com fees are almost half of what you will pay at NMIMS. The total course fees amount to INR 92,000.

NM College of Commerce and Economics placements are good. Reputed companies such as Morgan Stanley, EY, KPMG, etc. visit the campus placements. The average CTC received by the students is around INR 7 LPA.

Should I go for NMIMS MPSTME or Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT)?

AG
Akriti Gupta Posted On : September 7th, 2023
lives in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India

Without a doubt, MIT Manipal is a better option than NMIMS MPSTME. It’s one of the top private Engineering colleges in the country with a better placement scenario than most other private institutes including NMIMS. MIT has a diverse crowd and a vibrant culture making it an amazing choice to spend 4 years of your life. The culture is immensely diverse and this is probably the coolest place to spend the 4 years of your college life. The infrastructure is also great and MIT Manipal has some very famous alumni like

  • Satya Nadella
  • Rajiv Suri
  • Banmali Agarwala
  • Rajeev Chandrashekhar
  • Faizal Kottikollon

The institute has produced amazing startups like Fractal Works, Cwain Microsystems, Mean Metal Motors, etc

In all, you should definitely considering choosing MIT over NMIMS.

Taking distance education from NMIMS is worth it?

SD
Suyash Dutta Posted On : June 27th, 2021
MBA BM, XLRI

Well, frankly speaking, it's not. They will give you a Diploma certificate that is not validated out of India although they are from a recognized platform.

I will suggest that rethink your decision of opting for a distance MBA. NMIMS is undoubtedly is a great management institute but distance management courses are not well perceived in India itself. There are valid reasons behind this. Management education has little to do with theory, it needs a lot of skill-building, mentorship, grooming, which is not possible in distance education. Also, for most of these courses, many colleges do not offer placement offers. Even if they do you will get a lower salary than a regular MBA graduate.

Even in the current Covid-19 pandemic, although most reputed colleges started their classes online, they will go for regular classes with all precaution, once the situation stabilizes. So, choosing a regular MBA will be better.

But if you are determined to do a distance MBA, you may go ahead with ICFAI. ICFAI was built as a not-for-profit society with the broad objective of empowering citizens through world-class quality education. ICFAI has established 11 Universities all across India. ICFAI is even recognized by UGC (United Grants Commission) and DEB (Distance Education Board)

Course Objective:

  • The primary objective of the program is to build business leaders for the 21st century.
  • The course prepares you to handle the wide range of challenges inherent in managing organizations in a dynamic world.
  • If you are opting for this Tailor-made Program then you can be specialized in your own field of Interest.

Two-year Program charges around Rs 65000. For any further queries, you can visit the official site of ICFAI.

How is NMIMS Mumbai for its management programmes, in comparison to the old and new IIMs and some other good colleges?

SK
Shaunak Kapoor Posted On : February 23rd, 2023
PGDM from SVKM'S NMIMS?, Hyderabad Campus

Comparing NMIMS to the old IIMs like A, B, C, K, I, and L is completely illogical so let’s not do that. NMIMS Mumbai Campus is still comparable to the new IIMs in certain aspects. It is slightly better than new IIMs. Some points that favor this statement are

  • The infrastructure and in-campus facilities are a notch above the new IIMs
  • The peers are passionate learners ready to face life challenges that occur as a result of staying in Mumbai.
  • Another unique aspect of the college is its induction programs and tours that no other college offers. This helps develop students' confidence and provides maximum exposure to them.
  • There is a certain level of harmony between the seniors and juniors
  • The grading system is strict and one cannot miss a class more than the limitations of the course.
  • classroom learning is an exciting experience that involves activities and other interesting learning methods.
  • The total marks are a mix of every aspect like trimester exams, attendance, and class participation.
  • Various clubs and committees host cultural and social events. They also hold business events which are very beneficial for students aspiring to become managers
  • When it comes to placements, the average package in NMIMS is higher than that of new IIMs. Also, Mumbai Campus has 100 percent placement opportunities.

Therefore the excellent bridging of theoretical knowledge and practical approach makes it one of the most coveted B Schools in India.
