Heritage would be far better for your career than B.P.Poddar, in terms of educational facilities and campus infrastructure. The environment is good and the members of the faculty are helpful and nice.
I have visited both of these colleges and am familiar with them. If you want to have a fantastic college experience, Heritage would prove to be the best choice for you.
It could be a bit pricey if you use Management Quota. However, HIT offers good placement for CSE. In the recent placement drive, the average CTC offered at the institute was 4 LPA and the highest was 16 LPA.
In terms of college, IEM and HIT both provide similar career opportunities in the IT sector. Major recruiters like TCS, Infosys, CTS, Capgemini from the IT sector visit both the institutes.
If you had to pick between the two engineering fields, you should always go with CS. If you select CS, you will be able to apply for a variety of government/public sector positions (ISRO, BARC, IOCL) after completing your B.tech. Only CS guys are qualified to apply for the majority of these government jobs.
Parameters | IEM | Heritage Institute of Technology in Kolkata |
Tuition fees (B.Tech) | 5.88 lakhs | 3.93 lakhs |
Average CTC | INR 5-6 LPA | INR 3.75 LPA |
Highest CTC | 72 LPA | 16 LPA |
As you will get similar opportunities you can choose either. Also, outside of WB, no one cares if you're from IEM or HIT. Unless you're from JU, everything is the same.
The department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at Heritage Institute of Technology is apparently quite good. Here are some significant pointers to offer insight about the same,
Categories | ECE at Heritage Institute of Technology |
Course Fee | 4.04 lakh |
Placement Percentage | 80-90% |
Highest CTC | 16-18 LPA |
Average CTC | 8-9 LPA |
Recruiting Companies | Accenture, Cognizant, Tech Mahindra, HP, etc. |
Thus, the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering is one of the best to pursue in the institute.
A degree from HIT will only be valuable if you put enough hard work into earning it. HIT could be a good institute or bad, it depends completely on your academic performance. One of my friends studied at HIT, and here’s what I got to know from him.
All other colleges in West Bengal except for Jadavpur University , IIT Kharagpur and IIEST Shibpur are very poor and don't have any good facilities or placements although they tell themselves to be the best in the industry. Don't keep any high expectations from these colleges as you will be highly disappointed.
Hence, HIT won't be able to help you much in your career because of its poor academics and placements.
Biotechnology is one of the oldest branches in Heritage Institute of Technology, Kolkata. The professors are really good and highly qualified and they will help you in conducting your research programs with great guidance from them.
Many of the faculty at the department have good names in their area of specialization and if you can get guidance from them they will help you in getting good projects and recommendations from them. While doing PhDs or master’s from any university will help you a lot.
In the recent placement drive, the average and highest CTC offered at Heritage was 4 LPA and 16 LPA.
If you are self-motivated and want to study then this is a very good course. Life after this course will be really great if you are passionate about this degree.
I have a few friends from the National Power Training Institute (NPTI). Based on the conversations I had with them, I can give you some insight regarding the institute.
So choose the course you want to do keeping your interests in mind along with the future scope of the industry in consideration.
I have friends from both Heritage Institute of Technology Kolkata and Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Technology Delhi and based on the conversations that I had with them, I will say the former is a better choice for a CSE degree.
According to my friends, you will find that after enrolling in Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Technology, all you'll have to do is show up for sessionals and assignments. You must attend lessons or else the HOD will contact your parents. However, this opinion varies from person to person.
Here is a brief comparison of the two institutes.
Parameters | Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Technology in Delhi | Heritage Institute of Technology in Kolkata |
Tuition Fees (B.Tech) | 5.73 lakhs | 3.93 lakhs |
Placement Percentage | 85% | 80% |
Average CTC | INR 3.50 LPA | INR 4 LPA |
Overall, Heritage Institute of Technology in Kolkata is definitely a better option as compared to MAIT Delhi for CSE.
To change the stream from ECE to CSE, having an SGPA of 8.5 or more at the end of the first year is mandatory. It goes without saying that you will have to focus on your academics and try to maintain regular attendance. Complete your lab assignments and you can easily achieve an SGPA of 8.5 or even more.
Heritage Institute is now an autonomous institute so all the scores are in the hands of the faculty. The scoring rate has seen a slight decrease since the time it was under WBUT.
In Kolkata, Heritage has a splendid reputation and is considered one of the best colleges. On the other hand, LNCT Bhopal is a top-notch private institute in Madhya Pradesh. It ranks 66th among the best colleges in India and has successfully secured the 3rd rank in the state.
LNCT is decent for ECE with qualified and experienced faculty and cooperative seniors. They have an active branch for organizing seminars, training, and other activities as well as supervising HODs. A 95% placement record is maintained every year. Esteemed companies such as Wipro, TCS, Cognizant, Infosys, etc. visit the campus for recruitment purposes.
Although it is not an easy decision to come to terms with, you should evaluate the pros and cons of your choice before deciding on anything. If admission to a private engineering institute is what you desire then evaluate your expenses with other private institutes if it is on a high end.
The opening and closing rank in the third round of the counseling at Heritage Institute of Technology is shown in detail in the following data.

You can refer to the data and apply for Heritage. If you do not make it then you can try Techno India Salt Lake or some other institute under MAKAUT.
