Which is better, SCMHRD or IIM Ranchi PGDHRM?

SN
Sanskar Nigam Posted On : January 25th, 2023
HR Professional | MBA (HR) | Engineer

If you are interested in pursuing a degree in human resources management from one of the top B schools in India, you may want to consider SCMHRD. This institute is known for its strong reputation in the field of HR and can provide you with the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in this competitive industry. On the other hand, if you are primarily interested in obtaining an IIM degree, then IIM Ranchi may be a good option for you. While IIM Ranchi is considered to be one of the best among the newer IIMs, it may not have the same level of prestige or reputation as some of the more established institutes.

If your primary goal is to increase your chances of being placed in a top company and obtaining a high salary package in the field of HR, then SCMHRD may be a more suitable choice. It is important to carefully consider your goals and priorities before making a decision on which business school to attend.

Which new IIM (Udaipur, Ranchi, Raipur, Rohtak, Trichy and Kashipur) has the potential to join the league of ABC in future? Why?

AS
Aditya Shekhar Posted On : January 6th, 2023

Comparing the new IIMs with the IIM ABC is rather ridiculous and not justified. Considering factors like infrastructure, faculty, and alumni base, the top IIMs are way ahead of the new ones. Even if the new IIMs tackle the infrastructure and faculty issue they can never match the extraordinarily strong alumni base of the older IIMs. The IIMs A, B, and C have given birth to many geniuses that have contributed largely to Indian society in various fields like arts, literature, sports, etc. They have even made impressions globally.

No matter how fast the new IIMs climb up the ladder and excel, they will never be able to match the alumni base and worth of older IIMs.

What should I join, IIM Ranchi or IIM Indore Mumbai campus?

AJ
Advait Joshi Posted On : May 6th, 2023
Lives in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India

IIM Indore has recently been criticized for increasing the number of students in each group. For now, the new location might be risky. Since IIM Ranchi is a growing IIM, I will suggest it. Alternate schools will always have a second chance at things; this is how things usually work everywhere. Also, the quality of the teachers can't be matched 100% by IIM Indore's main campus. Even if the staff stays the same, Mumbai won't be able to copy the culture of the I campus right away.

IIM Indore has more than 600 students in each class, which is almost 2.5 times as many as IIM Ranchi. The point is to study with a group of 600 or more people instead of 240. I say go for Ranchi.

Does IIM Ranchi PGDHRM have a sectional cutoff?

AC

IIM Ranchi has Sectional as well as Overall cutoff. The cutoff for 1st Stage of Shortlisting is decided by the Candidate’s Valid Scores in the CAT Examination. While for the Final Selection, CAT Percentile, Performance in Personal Interviews followed by Academic & Gender Diversity is considered.

There is a huge weightage on work experience. This is because I have seen instances where freshers were rejected despite a 99 percentile while people with experience of 2-3 years were selected despite 90-93 percentile.

For an MBA HR, should we choose IIM Ranchi (PGDMHRM) or SCMHRD?

BG
Benika Gaira Posted On : January 12th, 2023
PGDHRM HR Management, Indian Institute of Management Ranchi (2019

To answer your question in better terms I will rate the colleges based on parameters such as placements, curriculum, and alumni base.

  1. TISS / XLRI - TISS has an advantage owing to its smaller batch and location in a metro (Mumbai). XLRI excels in the Alumni network and the variety of roles offered. In addition, the option of getting a Non-HR profile after an MBA has increased its ranking considerably.
  2. MDI Gurgaon - After this, MDI Gurgaon bags the position because of its location and strong alumni base.
  3. SCMHRD - It is a decent college but the quality of the crowd is substandard when compared to IIMs.
  4. Newer IIMs like Ranchi
  5. IMI & other colleges

After a B.Tech from an IIT, should one go for an MBA from IIT Bombay / Delhi or from newer IIMs like Kozhikode or Ranchi?

AR
Anubhav Raj Posted On : January 12th, 2023

The answer to your question is objectively based solely on your inclinations. IITs might offer a better ROI than IIMs. But had I been in your place I would have gone for the newer IIMs like Kozhikode or IIM Ranchi which is one of the fastest-growing IIMs. The reasons for taking this decision would have been

  • Better opportunities in finance, marketing, and consulting domains.
  • Better placement opportunities
  • Better industry exposure
  • The prestige of being a part of the IIM alumni network
  • The IIM tag

All these points make IIM a more tempting choice. Yet if you are tight on budget and just want to go for the Operations domain IIT will do fine for you.

How good is IIM Ranchi PGHRM?

MK
Manjeet Kumar Posted On : January 12th, 2023
PGDM from Indian Institute of Management Ranchi (2017)

Compared to the older IIMs it is not very good but compared to the newer IIMs it is way better. Its USP is its location in an Industrially rich belt that increases your chances of having an excellent career in Management.

Now if we compare it to the other B Schools, it ranks lower than FMS, XLRI, SP Jain, MDI and JBIMS but higher than IMT, IMI, Fore, XU, GIM, etc. It is better than these B Schools because of the IIM brand.

This program is best for people who want to enter the field of teaching and academics.

How would you rank IIM Udaipur, Trichy, Ranchi, and Raipur?

RB
Rahul Bisht Posted On : January 21st, 2023
MBA from Indian Institute of Management, Udaipur (Graduated 2021)

It is difficult to provide a definitive ranking of business schools as the best choice will depend on your individual priorities and goals. To determine which among IIM Udaipur, Trichy, Ranchi, and Raipur is the best fit for you, it is important to consider factors such as the curriculum and placement opportunities in your desired field, the focus on research, the availability of Students Exchange Programs and other opportunities for exposure, and the overall perception of the school.

If you have a specific field or area of focus in mind, you should look for a B-school that offers a strong curriculum and good placement prospects in that area. If you are interested in gaining hands-on research experience, you should consider schools that have a strong orientation toward research. If you are looking for opportunities to gain exposure and experience through programs like student exchange, you should consider schools with a strong track record in this area.

If you do not have a specific priority and are unable to identify a clear difference between the opportunities offered by different B-schools, you may want to consider their perception. While this can be difficult to quantify, their overall perception can impact the quality of your peers and the overall learning environment. To judge the perception of a B-school, you should do your own research and consider factors such as the reputation of the school, the accomplishments of its faculty and alumni, and the resources and support available to students. Ultimately, the best choice for you will depend on your personal goals and priorities.

Is it worth for IIM Ranchi MBA graduate with 3 year of previous work-ex in IT to join mu sigma as apprentice leader trainee?

MD
Manash Jyoti Das Posted On : January 12th, 2023
Studied MBA in Marketing at Indian Institutes of Management (2020)

No, I certainly will not suggest that you go for MU Sigma as an apprentice leader trainee. There are many better options like joining a structured, organized company with a decent work ambiance. These aspects are missing in MU Sigma which has a weird business model. The business model is based on the concept ‘Throw them in water, they will learn to swim”. That is if they are made to face hardships they will end up learning the skill to survive. In reality, this has caused relentless suffering to the professionals, the managers, and most importantly the clients. Everybody is clueless and no proper targets are allotted. So I am completely against you joining MU Sigma.
