The CGPA and GPA are based solely on the subjects you have completed. If you fail seven out of eight subjects in a semester but receive an "S" on the one you did pass, for instance, you will have a GPA of 10 for that semester. Your GPA and CGPA are updated as you pass each of the courses you failed.
Ignore the subjects you failed; instead, focus on the credits for the ones you passed; multiply those credits by the grade you obtained, and continue adding the values for all the subjects you passed. Divide this figure by the total number of credits earned in the subjects you've completed. This will calculate your GPA. Because the credits for each semester are not the same, you must perform this calculation for all subjects beginning with your first semester to determine your CGPA.
There are 52 seats reserved for quotas from other states. These seats are divided into four regions: north, south, east, and west.
For the reserved category, there are significant yearly variations. Because the number of seats reserved for each region is so small, the general cutoffs will change every year. You simply need to register, remain calm, and hope for the best.
You must have passed your HSC or an equivalent exam with a minimum of 50% in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry to be eligible. The pass percentage for SC/ST candidates is reduced to 40%.
Other state students might face some major issues at Anna University. Some of them are:
Language Barrier: Almost everyone in Tamil Nadu converse in their mother tongue. So students from other states might face language issues outside the campus.
Climate: Chennai experiences a hot and humid climate throughout the year. The unbearable heat might be a serious issue for someone from a cooler state.
Food: Although Chennai offers both veg and non-vegetarian, if you are a true North Indian you will definitely miss North Indian food here.
Metropolitan: Life in Chennai is very fast-paced and can seem overwhelming for anyone. Also the pollution levels are high.
Whether Anna University is good for other state students actually depends on their capability to endure the above factors.
Some simple tips that will help you ace Anna University exams are:
Most subjects require you to write the crust or key points only. Teachers don't prefer lengthy answers unless it is for theoretical papers like Environmental Engineering.
Unfortunately at Anna University presentation matters more than what you have written. So make sure you use different color inks and make your answer sheet look presentable.
Use a different color pen usually black for key points of sub-headings.
Supporting your theoretical answers with a well-labeled diagram will surely get you extra points.
For the numerical part, pay special attention to measurements and units as they check this part with extra caution.
Write your answers in neat handwriting as the examiners don't want to spend more than 3-4 minutes per paper checking.
Lastly if you want to increase your chances of clearing the paper, fill out the entire booklet.
All these tips combined with your own efforts will bear you good results.
NIT TRICHY is the best NIT in the country, with NIT WARANGAL ranking second. These two colleges cannot be compared to Anna University.
In every way, the two NITs outperform Anna University. Students' quality, infrastructure, teaching, labs, hostels, campus life, job placements, and festivals are all important factors. Please keep in mind that job placement is not everything. It cannot be the sole criterion for selecting a college. You should consider the teaching, library, and lab infrastructure, and, most importantly, the student intake.
If you're going to live in a hostel for four years, make sure the student peer groups are on your wavelength. You should consider staying in a hostel because it will enable you to gain life experience and mature as a person.
Industrial quota or consortium quota as it is generally called is a medium through which a student can be admitted to any of the UG courses of the university.
Anyone who has an industry can apply through this quota which is its main qualification. The process is as follows:
The university reviews all the applications submitted.
It then visits the industry and makes a report on the background of the company.
Based on the report the applied candidate is given a seat in the university.
Most importantly an MOU is signed between the university and the industry.
The main thing to consider is that the company should be related to the course the candidate is willing to pursue.
The nativity certificate confirms that you are of Tennessee origin. The Tahsildar office usually provides this. The Anna University website provides the format.
The VAO (Village Administrative Officer), RI (Revenue Inspector), and Tahsildar must sign the nativity certificate. The VAO and RI are supposed to investigate your nativity's credibility. They need a few of the following items to complete the process.
Ration card for address verification
Active bank account in your name or in the name of your father.
If applicable, a property document
Other proofs may be required by the office. Someone from the office will come and personally verify.
There are almost ten hostels or more for CEG boys. You will undoubtedly enjoy the hostel life there, despite the facilities not being as good as those at private colleges.
The cost of the hostel, including meals, will be about INR 22,000 per semester. The rules at the hostel are not too strict. You may roam until 10.30 p.m. Any electronic device is acceptable.
Every hostel will have a TV room. If you enjoy cricket, watching a game with your hostel mates in a lively atmosphere reminiscent of a cricket field would be an amazing experience. There will be wifi in every hostel.
Without hostels, college life would be dull. Join the hostel without thinking twice.
Hostel features:
In the first year, 4 people per room plus a shared toilet and bathroom. However, the hostel block will differ between the second and third years.
In the fourth year, there will be one person per room or possibly two, depending on the block you choose.
From the release of the end-of-semester results until the deadline for applying for re-evaluation and photocopies of the answer sheets, students will have access to the online mark sheet. Check the email sent to your account that is connected to ACOE SEMS if you missed this. You receive a mark sheet in the mail that only includes the grade points—not the attendance rate or assessment scores. If for some reason, the mail wasn't delivered, you can request to see the mark sheet at the ACOE office or from your department's head, who enters the grades for the hard copy, if they are responsible for doing so.
The only other choice is to wait until the end of the following semester when they distribute the hard copies if none of this passes muster. It is suggested that you check your marks within the allotted time and take a screenshot or save the pdf form to prevent such situations.
No way. Anna University does not permit you to switch branches for any reason. You must leave college and re-enroll in the course that you wish to pursue.
To begin, keep in mind that CS is not a core subject, but rather a study of technology. As a term, technology refers to a technique or methodology developed based on scientific principles for the application of such scientific principles in real life. As a result, CS technology is only used in other core streams such as mechanical, automobile, and civil engineering. Many innovations in the mechanical engineering field are equipped with CS technologies, demonstrating that such innovations are created by mechanical engineers and facilitated by CS engineers.
If you are truly interested in computer science, you will learn a variety of programming languages and apply them in mechanical engineering fields such as engine automation, computer-integrated manufacturing, and so on.
