MBA in International Business, Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, Delhi

XLRI BM is the better option. It is an old B-School and ranks right after IIM A, B, and C. It has a large and varied alumni network. You will find XLRI alumni in almost every reputed companies.

XLRI BM has a smaller batch size. So, it’s easier for students to get decent job opportunities. XLRI placements are great. During the 2022 placement drive, the average CTC received by the students was INR 30 LPA.

How is the executive MBA program in IIM Kozhikode?

PS
Prajwal Sharma Posted On : November 17th, 2022
Studied Finance and Marketing at the Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode.

The Executive MBA program at IIMK is regarded as one of the best in the country, second only to IIMB.

The course is rigorous, the peer group is excellent, and graduates are considered true alumni of the institute, eligible to participate in all alumni activities.

Because EMBA students begin networking with PGP alumni early in their program, it is not uncommon for them to receive job referrals before completing the program.

The EMBA at IIMK was the first in India to receive AMBA certification, a testament to the course's quality.

What is the CAT cutoff for IIM -K?

MS
Mahak Sengupta Posted On : April 14th, 2023
PDGM from Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (2016)

IIM Kozhikode CAT cutoff varies every year and is dependent on various factors such as the difficulty level of the exam, the number of test-takers, and the number of available seats. Generally, IIMs consider various parameters while selecting candidates such as academic background, work experience, diversity, and CAT scores.

For the admission process in the academic year 2022-23, CAT cutoff for IIM-K was 94 percentile for general category candidates. However, the cutoff can vary every year and it is always advisable for the candidates to aim for a higher percentile to increase their chances of getting admission into their desired institute. Additionally, it's important to note that the CAT cutoff is not the only criterion considered for admission in IIM-K, as the institute also gives weightage to the candidate's academic record, work experience, and performance in the personal interview and written ability test.

Which is better, IIM Kozhikode or SP Jain Mumbai?

YS
Yashmeet Singh Posted On : May 20th, 2022
PGPM Information Management, S. P. Jain Institute of Management and Research (2016)

SP Jain Mumbai is better than IIM Kozhikode, especially for marketing. IIM Kozhikode has a huge batch strength, so the deviation between the highest and lowest salary packages is higher.  This is not the case for SP Jain. As it has a compact batch size, each student gets fair opportunities in placements. SP Jain placements have been pretty good over the last few years. During the 2022 placement drive, students received an average CTC of INR 30 LPA.

What is the 'Fox Incident' at IIM Kozhikode?

SC
Suresh Chakraborty Posted On : February 11th, 2021
Studied MBA in Marketing and Finance at IIM Kozhikode (2019)

One of my seniors I have been in contact with for some time has told me that he does not remember anything about a ‘fox incident’ but he remembers about a fox family on campus during his tenure as an IIM student. He remembers seeing mother and cubs quite a few times.

Stray dogs in and around the campus have also attacked people in the past. Usually, they attacked people because something or the other irked them since they do not usually attack without reason. A sudden movement from the people must have provoked such attacks from the dogs.

The campus is located on two hillocks, with a lot of greenery. Owing to its location, you can get to see many animals. There were Foxs, Monitor Lizards, and Malabar Gliding Fogs, etc.

In past, there were rumors of fox attacks. Though it was not certain if it was fox or wild dogs. Many theories were speculated around them. The institute finally called a dog cathing service and removed the animals from the campus. There were many debates regarding the issue.

RS
Rituraj Singhal Posted On : February 11th, 2021
Studied at Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (2020)

Unlike the other parts of Kerala, IIM Kozhikode was left mostly unscathed owing to its remarkable architecture and altitude. Some of the people I know who have graduated from there have said that the floods have left them deep emotional scars.

The Social Service Group of the institute successfully distributed funds, packed food, clothes, blankets, bed sheet, sanitary napkins, and other required amenities, with the help of faculty, students, and alumni.

The helpful acts included the following.

  • The institute lent its effort in reaching out to over 1000 families and 18 relief camps. They have tried their best to help the people affected by the disaster.
  • They were able to lend a helping hand to the Chattamangalam Relief Camp. They could provide 50 kg rice and 100 mosquito-repelling coils.
  • Providing 500 men’s garments, 500 women’s garments, 50 blankets, 50-bed sheets to the Wayanad Bicycle Club.
  • Providing 282 biscuit packs, 259 sanitary napkins, packs of milk, 33 juice boxes, Maggi packs, 160 rusk packs, 30 coils to the people of Calicut and Chengannur Area.
  • 40 packs of biscuits to the Kozhikode district
  • Distribution of large sets of garments for women which include innerwear, maxi, t-shirts for boys in the area of Mavoor.
  • 50 sets of detergents, Dettol, mops, and brooms to the Kunnamangalam AUP School.
  • 213 packs of biscuits, 275 sanitary napkins, and others including sugar, juice, chocolate packets, and chips were provided for Nilambur Relief Camp.

The student community of strength over 800 worked hard to make the lives easier of the people affected by the flood. The institution did its best to reach out to the people not so fortunate.

Should I join IIM Kozhikode?

PB
Prity Banerjee Posted On : February 11th, 2021
IIT BHU (2019)

A senior I knew who graduated from IIM Kozhikode has told me that it was her childhood dream to become a civil service officer. She started reading the CSR or Civil Service Chronicles from class V. She belonged to a family of doctors and she had to go against the wishes of her father to take mathematics instead of biology in her 10 (+2). As she wanted to graduate from college quickly and completing MBBS would take around 5 and a half years.

In her final year of college, she appeared for the CAT examinations because firstly, she was curious about it. And secondly, appearing for Civil Service examinations is not possible without graduation. Not only did she manage to crack her examinations but she also got calls from IIM K, I, S, and the other new IIMs.

Although she is still uncertain about what she wants to do in the future, she is confident that IIM Kozhikode was one of the best decisions she has ever taken. The institute helps immensely in developing the perspicacity of a student.

B-schools are much more than placements, grades, competitions, or committees. It is one of the pioneer institutions that help you overcome your shortcomings.
