IIM Trichy, Ranchi, Raipur, Udaipur, Kashipur, and Rohtak are way ahead of SIOM and SIBM-B. The average package at these new IIMs is greater than INR 11 LPA whereas the lowest packages at these institutes are around INR 6.5-7.5 LPA. You will be astonished to know that the lowest package at these IIMs is almost equal to the average package at SIOM and SIBM-B.
Moreover, IIMs is in itself a brand and therefore promises better growth. This is the reason that these new IIMs despite their early establishment are at par with SIBM-Pune and SCMHRD.
It is tough to choose between SIBM Pune and IIM Shillong. SIBM is quite an older institute and also a reputed one. It was founded in the year 1978. It has a good placement report. The average package offered at SIBM Pune is 21 lac per annum.
IIM Shillong, on the other hand, is a dream B-School for many. First of all, it is an IIM. The name will be going to remain with you for the entire of your life. IIM Shillong also offers excellent placements. The average placement at IIM Shillong is 22 lac per annum, and the highest salary offered is 55 lac per annum.
If I had both options, then I would have gone for IIM Shillong. The first reason is the IIM tag, and the other is that Shillong is the best place to spend two years of my life.
Don’t go for IIM Visakhapatnam if you are just attracted by the IIM tag. While it surely is part of the IIM family that does not necessarily mean it has the same standards. Between the two, SIBM Pune gives a slight edge to IIM Visakhapatnam. If you talk about them generally they definitely are good institutions, but they are not the best. IIM Visakhapatnam is not yet recognised at SIBM Pune.
But if your preference is staying in your hometown or other location factors and IIM Visakhapatnam is suitable for you, then go for it. Both are almost similar in terms of worth and academics. At the end of the day it’s not the institution but your own performance that matters.
The answer can be divided into two main parts: Curriculum and Placements.
In terms of Curriculum, TISS is rated as having the best. Colleges whose core degree is not HR will be at a disadvantage when it comes to curriculum.
In terms of Placements, XLRI is ranked as having the best package and profile offerings, followed by a tie between TISS and SCMHRD. The colleges whose core is not HR will not offer as good a package post-MBA as compared to the colleges with core HR competencies.
In terms of packages offered, XLRI can be ranked the highest, followed by SCMHRD and TISS in a tie, and then MDI, SIBM, and XIMB.
A Symbiosis MBA can have long-term benefits. Long-term benefits of a Symbiosis MBA include:
An MBA from an esteemed institution like Symbiosis can provide you with the business skills, knowledge, and connections you need to thrive.
To begin, you must reduce your college options; Symbiosis offers many colleges in and around Pune. SIBM is the best in this category, followed closely by SCMHRD (just for HR).
So, for the sake of comparison, let's stick to these two.
Long story short, SIBM and SCHHRD would outperform NMIMS in terms of specific placements, but NMIMS takes the cake in terms of total placement and legitimacy.
Symbiosis is a rather diverse but not particularly well-structured college campus, and the plethora of possibilities can lead to some confusion, particularly when distinguishing the cream from the rest.
NMIMS, on the other hand, offers selective courses and hence has a superior overall atmosphere.
Finally, in terms of fees and ROI, NMIMS easily wins.
My cousin is an alumnus of Symbiosis Centre of Management Studies (SCMS) Pune and her experience there was good. The quality of education offered in the institute, atmosphere, infrastructure, faculty, and other facilities are commendable. It is a very renowned institute of management. The institute provides wide exposure to the students as well.
Some of the visiting professors showered the batch with their knowledge and prowess in the art of teaching, oratorical skills, case-based approaches, etc.
You will also pick up the basics of other specializations as you go along. This specialization ensures that your depth of knowledge is much higher than that of others.
There is no specific criterion by any company that visits campus. A few criteria are like what percentage of the batch is placed. If many students are unplaced, then the company can find a good pool of students they can hire. Some companies specifically look for work-experience candidates. For example, ICICI Lombard visits such campuses and asks for a candidate with at least 24 months of work experience. It all depends on how the placements committee is negotiating with the companies and what are the requirements of the companies. Sometimes they mention the number of candidates they are looking to hire. Sometimes, they don’t tell any number.
The likelihood that you will be admitted to SIBM, SCMHRD, or SIIB depends on a number of variables, including your academic performance, work experience (if any), performance on the admission exam, and performance in the selection process (group discussion and personal interview).
In general, entrance to SIBM and SCMHRD requires a solid profile because they are very selective business schools. A renowned B-school as well, SIIB may have a little less competition.
You should aim for a high percentile on the entrance exam (CAT or SNAP), have a strong academic record, and have relevant work experience (if applicable) to boost your chances of getting into these B-schools. Additionally, since the group discussion and personal interview rounds are so important to the selection process, it is critical to prepare effectively for both.
XLRI offers a two years Human Resource program at PGD level and Symbiosis Pune offers an MBA and a Diploma in HR Management. The XLRI program has been ranked the best in Asia Pacific.
