Why is IMT Ghaziabad not as good as it was before?
IMT Ghaziabad was considered one of the best B Schools in the early 2000 or the late 90s.In recent years, it has witnessed a slight decline in its quality of education. This stems from the increment in the batch size thereby declining the talent pool of candidates. The CAT cutoff was reduced to attract more and more candidates. This resulted in substandard crowds and low competition. Another reason was the previous director whose major aim was to earn money.
Recently again though IMT Ghaziabad is gaining fame because of its new director Dr. Atish Chattopadhyay who is managing the institution excellently. He has reduced the students intake and increased the cutoff. He is constantly working towards improving the lost image of the institution.
The college offers excellent placement opportunities and its low average package is the result of large batch-size only. So don’t just look at placement reports, ask the alumni about its recent improvements.
Which is better, IMT Ghaziabad or IMI Delhi? I am not sure but have an inclination towards HR. What should I do? Please help.
IMI Delhi will be better. It has one of the best management faculties in the country, including IIMs. IMI Delhi placements in 2022 concluded with an average CTC of INR 15.23 LPA. The highest CTC offered stood at around INR 32 LPA. Accenture, Deloitte, Capgemini, BCG, etc. took part in this year's placement drive.
IMT Ghaziabad has a huge batch size and students of all programs go through a common placement process. As a result, every student doesn’t get decent placement opportunities.

It’s not possible for B Schools to offer package roles to the entire batch to maintain a high average figure. So before joining a college for MBA you should analyze whether the package you will get will compensate for the hefty fees you pay.

If you have a closer look, there is no major difference between the 3 B Schools. So I have made it easier by judging them on the basis of 2 parameters only.
Admissions: Most competent students get a call from 2 of these 3 institutes as all the 3 to have similar requisites
Placements: The placements are also at a similar level. The profiles and packages offered are similar in all the 3 B Schools except that IMT is a little behind owing to its huge batch size.
So I would say the order would be as this- XIMB >=IMI>IMT

What should I choose between IIM Sambalpur and IMT Ghaziabad?
It depends on which IMT Ghaziabad course you got. If you got the core PGDM in IMT Ghaziabad then definitely go for it.
There are some parameters based on which you can make your choice.
- Location - IMT Ghaziabad has an upper edge over IIM Sambalpur as Ghaziabad is near Gurgaon which is a corporate hub.
- Brand value- IIM Sambalpur has a better brand value and image than IMT Ghaziabad.
- Placements- Both of the colleges reported 100% placements. The average package at IIM Sambalpur was 16,63,650 LPA and the average package at IMT Ghaziabad was 19 LPA.
Overall, The choice is yours, but according to me, IMT Ghaziabad is a better choice.

The average package of government colleges like IITs and DSE is slightly less around INR 10.57 LPA. So the point is if you are ready to invest a hefty amount in B Schools, you will not regret the decision as they are game changers. The level of exposure and diversity is almost higher than in Government colleges. IITs, DFS and DSE MBAs have a more theoretical approach than a practical one. However, the figures for private B schools are inflated so do consider the ups and downs.

- IMT or XIMB is a good option for Marketing

The final decision is up to you. Try to find what exactly you want from MBA

- If your graduation from college does not include the institutes like top 5 IIT/SRCC/LSR
