Which college should I choose for ECE either IPU MAIT or IET Lucknow?

SS
Samita Saha Posted On : July 9th, 2021
B.Tech Computer Science Engineering, Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Technology (2020)

One of my friends is studying in ECE in IPU MAIT so I can tell you about this. Here is what he had to say about the branch.

  • If you are a beginner in a coding language then better make a habit of coding on a regular basis. The fact is at MAIT almost all companies visiting for placements are IT companies. If you are not good at coding by any then your chances of getting placed are pretty slim.
  • The academic atmosphere at MAIT is great. But the exam culture of IPU is not so good, because they are always going to test your mugging up ability and not your knowledge. So, this is a minor issue in MAIT.

Here is a comparison of the recent placement statistics for the institutes.

Institute

MAIT

IET Lucknow

Highest CTC

28 LPA

36 LPA

Average CTC

3.50 LPA

4 LPA

Major recruiters

Amazon, ZS Associates, HSBC

DE Shaw & Co, Unacademy, Code Nation

I will suggest that don't run behind colleges. Choose a college in which you are getting your desired branch and study hard and smartly.

What's your view on the DotC programming club at Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Technology (MAIT)?

MC
Mihir Chakraborty Posted On : July 8th, 2021
Studied at IIIT Allahabad (2019)

One of my friends is from MAIT. He said that for the domain of competitive programming, DOTC is the famous programming club at MAIT. It has completed its 1st year. The people who joined are enthusiastic about competitive programming.

  • The knowledge of the important exams in coding such as Google Code Jam, Hackercup, GSOC, ACM-ICPC is provided.
  • These exams have to be cracked through logical skills and the knowledge of advanced programming.
  • The seniors in the club are cooperative.
  • Joining the DOTC club allows one to get an overview of competitions outside the college also.
  • It's a platform where the coding problems are solved through combined planning and discussion from the top coders of the college.
  • The people registered in DOTC also get to know about various onsite contests organized by the top websites of the coding world such as Hackerrank, Codechef, Topcoder, open-source platforms such as Github, or Codeforces.
  • The syllabus covered at DOTC is the topics like maxflow, suffix arrays, segment trees, Fenwick trees, min-cut and more.

Programming helps in inculcating the thinking process and the skills in a human. When it comes to solving a given problem, it requires a lot of logical thinking skills which when processed gives a solution and it becomes difficult sometimes to catch up on a single line of code for a long time.

DOTC is a good initiative by the students of MAIT and the students should join it to have exposure in the field of programming.

Which is the better option, BVP or MAIT for CSE for the person living in PG near the college, considering the attitude of students and internal marks, etc?

RD
Riddhi Dasgupta Posted On : July 13th, 2021
B.Tech Computer Science Engineering, Maharaja Surajmal Institute of Technology (2020)

I can give you some ideas about the two institutes as I have friends at both BVP and MAIT.

  • Location-wise, BVP is way better than MAIT, since BVP is located in the outskirts of Rohini
  • The number of societies and the number of cultural events held on the campus are more in BVP compared to MAIT.
  • The infrastructure such as classrooms etc is better at BVP than MAIT.
  • Talking about the attitude of the students, it will be somewhat similar at both the colleges. And, for the attitude of the teachers, you will not find much difference either.
  • However, when it comes to quality of education and placements, MAIT steals the show. According to the recent placement highlights the average CTC offered at BVP and MAIT is 1 LPA and 3.5 LPA.

There are not many factors that make one college stand out. So, choose either of these two institutes according to your convenience.

Is there any possibility to get a seat in the CSE department in MAIT or MSIT (any shift), with an IPU-CET rank of 3,097 in the spot round?

If you want to pursue your master's just for the sake of a degree then it is very well and good, but if you are intending knowledge and exposure well many of my seniors recommend pursuing the masters from any of the globally recognized institutions such as IIT, NIT, and so on.

  • It's better to start working even though you earn a bit less. No education institute will provide you with real-time working experience.
  • Another better option is pursuing a certification course that is more valuable in the eyes of a recruiter.
  • You can spend the entire one year in a certification course rather than wasting two years pursuing a master's.

Can somebody give me more insight on the enterpreneurship development cell of MAIT Delhi?

VR
Vidisha Rautela Posted On : July 22nd, 2021
B.tech Electrical Engineering & Robotics, Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Technology (2020)

There is an entrepreneurship development cell in MAIT Delhi. The office is located in the 4th block of the ECE Department.

  • The interested students can fill up the form and then you will be added to a Whatsapp group. All the information regarding the touring of the different expo, events will be updated in the group.
  • The institute arranges meetings with some guests. However, the guests are not so well known and with great success. Although sometimes, well-dignified guests do visit.
  • You will also be given chance to meet with some politicians and ministers.

However, there have been cases when students struggled to get their certificates as the officials are not very responsible at EDC. There are also some other societies at MAIT if you wish to join.

How likely is it to get MAIT 1st shift CSE in the spot round? My rank is 1,770 and currently have been allotted in the 2nd shift CSE. The cutoff in the last round of the 1st shift is 1,336.

DB
Dishari Bannerjee Posted On : July 7th, 2021
Studied at Calcutta University (2019)

One of my friends studied at MAIT. According to him, it is one of the decent choices for pursuing your engineering degree. The admission in MAIT depends upon various factors like:

  • Delhi (Home State) or Outside Delhi student.
  • General/ OBC/ SC/ ST/ Defense Category/ Physically Handicapped/ J&K Migrants.
  • Branch and Shift of program.
  • Rank-wise cut-off for all the colleges in different branches of engineering belonging to all the above categories.

Cut-Off for MAIT in Shift-1

Branch

Delhi Region

Outside Delhi Region

CSE

Min: 723 & Max: 1300

Min: 277 & Max: 548

Cut-Off for MAIT in Shift-2

Branch

Delhi Region

Outside Delhi Region

CSE

Min: 1538 & Max: 1962

Min: 592 & Max: 707

At your rank 1770, there are rare chances to get admission in B.Tech CSE through MAIT. However, you can get CSE through the shift-2 cut-off if you belong to the Delhi region. There are other branches as well which accept 1770 rank in the shift-1.

  • The college has all the facilities required by the students. Smart classrooms, Wi-Fi, updated libraries and medical facilities are available.

  • There are several student clubs like dance and drama.

MAIT:

Although MAIT does not have the largest campus, there is no lack of facilities and student activities.
